@Vampirushaa: Of course, I've already graduated from high school, but I don't remember being asked to watch TV series. I wonder what kind of object it is.
Well, they ask us this at the University of foreign literature - to write an essay where we need to compare the book and any film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice :) And so it turns out that you have to watch in order to write at least something.
They really didn't ask me to watch anything at school. Except that sometimes in class (if there was time) they watched "The Master and Margarita", "Total Eclipse" (when the works of Verlaine and Rimbaud passed), the same "Perfumer" (and they watched it with the teacher).
How funny it was to watch how quickly the rumors spread! As soon as Lizzie finds out that Darcy is a bad person and has taken away poor Wickham's way of earning a piece of bread, she immediately retells the story to her sister Jane. Then she tells it to her friend Charlotte Lucas at the ball. Lizzie quarrels with Darcy while they are dancing, but Darcy would not spread the fact that Lizzie met Wickham, and nevertheless, after dancing, Miss Bingley rushes to tell Lizzie "out of great friendship" that Wickham should not be trusted. If it wasn't Darcy who told her, it must have been Mr. Bingley, who was clearly being questioned by a worried Jane (who later confirms that Mr. Bingley also heard something bad about Wickham, although she doesn't know the details).
I'm sorry, but these are absolutely disgustingly well-mannered girls. I'm already infuriated by the little sisters who are always laughing at the wrong topic. They looked like they'd been hit all over their heads. I decided to check out the famous film adaptation
@Pearlshed: Yes, the younger ones are so hyperactive and annoying, behaving like they're seven years old at the most, running around everywhere, making faces, kindergarten😅
Yes, the priest-relative is really weird. It's really strange that my husband didn't warn me about his arrival in advance. Apparently, he intends to woo one of his cousins, and that's partly why he came? This priest loves to flatter us very much and apparently loves wealth very much, since he constantly talks about the patroness's property. By the way, conveniently Lizzie and her boyfriend got rid of him and Cain by his patroness. 😆 It was strange, but he said that he would come, that Darcy's presence would not make him leave or hide.… Did she sing that badly? 🤔 What a tactless mother. He doesn't seem to be talking about his daughters. Or as if he's trying to sell the property at a good price...😒 Was it impossible to calm your conscience by writing a statement or something like that, in the event of their father's death, you give their house to you for their gratuitous use? "If you refuse, your mother will stop seeing you, and if you agree, then I will refuse" 😂 Good man, their father
It amuses me how in those days people offered marriage to girls they didn't know at all. So you saw 5 sisters, you wanted to marry the eldest, but she was busy, you urgently switched to the younger one, and when she refused (after a week of dating or whatever), you were terribly offended? Even if marriages were often arranged, shouldn't people at least get to know each other better, like each other, even if it's not love at all and not falling in love.. Those were strange times :))
I risk completely destroying my rating on the site by saying that I still like the film adaptation with Keira Knightley better, it's very beautiful. But there's nothing to catch your eye on. But the actors are great and really infuriating, I must give them their due. I'll keep watching, maybe I'll understand why everyone is so excited.
The mother is simply disgusting! I understand when she's looking for a rich husband: money, money, money, etc., it was important in those days, but Collins? He's disgusting, not with money, etc., i.e. a mother doesn't give a shit about her daughter, I would still understand if I were rich and money would be important to my mother, as in the Bingley story, but no, there are only disadvantages..
@JR13: The problem is not even the money, but the house. Women cannot inherit their father's property; after his death, everyone will end up on the street. But he's disgusting, I absolutely agree.
@JR13: In general, Bennett Collins is a good match for the practically penniless sisters - he has a respected profession, a large wealthy parish, and, again, no bad habits. But the most important advantage is that he is Mr. Bennett's heir, and one day he will receive his house. But I agree with everything else)
