Description
Pennsylvania, 1956. Frank Sheeran, a war veteran of Irish origin who works as a truck driver, accidentally meets mobster Russell Bufalino. Once Frank becomes his trusted man, Bufalino sends him to Chicago with the task of helping Jimmy Hoffa, a powerful union leader related to organized crime, with whom Frank will maintain a close friendship for nearly twenty years.
Yes, there is an excessive amount of makeup in the Irishman, and Frank Shiren's movements look rather awkward, which somehow catches the eye, but these are nothing more than trifles that, in my opinion, did not affect the result in any way.
It is worth noting that the story itself is from the category of those that relate to cinema with an excellent narrative and with a significant share of drama. Take, for example, the story arc of Frank and Peggy, long in life, in which not his father, but his friend, Hoffa took the place of the person behind whom the truth. And the final point in all this narrative turned out to be very revealing, helping to draw certain conclusions, sets all the points, with an eye to such a lifestyle. And despite the impressive timing, you will not be bored.
Perhaps the film cannot be added to the number of legendary pictures about gangsters, it's hard to argue when there are such mastodons in this kind of genre, nevertheless, I recommend watching it!
