Overview

After an abrupt and violent encounter with a French warship inflicts severe damage upon his ship, a captain of the British Royal Navy begins a chase over two oceans to capture or destroy the enemy, though he must weigh his commitment to duty and ferocious pursuit of glory against the safety of his devoted crew, including the ship's thoughtful surgeon, his best friend.

I'm watching on Russell Crowe's 62nd birthday. how Captain Horatio (1951) was watched by Gregory Peck on April 5 and after the Hornblower series (1998-2003). The writer Patrick O'Brian clearly followed Hornblower's author, C. S. Forester. about the adventures of the English cap in the era of Napoleon. wars. Only Jack Aubrey (nicknamed "The Impudent Smiling Snake") is completely opposed. Horn, a reserved introvert.
imho, it seems that the filmmakers also repeat the TV personalities after learning about the series. but rather after learning about the development. pirates of the Caribbean. the sea.

but judging by the description. on Vicki, Crowe is perfect for the role of Jack Aubrey - heavy, tall (even the same height). "Jack's voice, accustomed to giving commands during a storm or artillery cannonade, is powerful: once he had to talk to the boatswain "face to face," and everything the captain said could be heard "from the aft cabin to the stem."😆

Men's cinema is one of the few films where there are no women (or episodes). another one that I know for sure is also on the maritime theme - The Hunt for the "Red October" (1990. Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin).

The film impressed me back at the k/ theater 23 years ago, especially the volley of francs from the fog - first you see, then it arrives. "Frank came out of the fog..." and, of course, Jonah's self-murder...😱

It's a pity that they didn't continue. I don't think so. more like a prequel. I hope it won't be like Horn. where almost 50 years have passed between the movie and the series. I will not live to see the
best film on this subject. PKM is still a fantasy about pirates.

In the dubbing, the officer boys are called midshipmen ("Don't hang your nose..."). in the original. midshipman - midshipman.
In the army, this is an ensign. Ensign Jonah😁
the joke at the end is slightly blurred by dubbing - Are you, Stephen, talking about your flightless bird? Where will she go?

Doc got shot because of a bird as a vice prez. USA Dick Cheney shot his friend on a quail hunt.
and Doc defended himself like an owl. Surgeon Leonid Rogozov had his appendix removed in Antarctica.
Doc's assistant is carrying him = Hodor

"The beauty of English women and the taste of English food have made the British the best sailors in the world"🤣

Cap Acheron has twice as many guns and people.
so I have a question - they sent him on the 1st against such an enemy.
fanfact - boats (yawls) on board HMS Surprise are copies of boats of the Russian Navy.

French Acheron decommissioned from the USS Constitution (1797). and HMS Surprise is an overkill. for the film HMS Rose (1970), a copy of HMS Rose (1757). The real HMS Surprise (1796) was dismantled in 1817.
