A pretentious anti-war drama. Three hours of banal messages and empty rants. It is not surprising that the film got lost against the background of the release of the same year "Save Private Ryan". Even a huge number of famous actors did not help, who, apparently, were recruited purely to lure the viewer to the cinemas, because they were not allowed to open up properly.

@Barnaby: I agree with you! Sometimes it seems to me that everyone around me conspired - everyone praised the film so much that I decided to watch it. 3 hours of stuffiness, beautiful shots (landscapes are one of the few advantages of this film) and conversations supposedly with an important message. I watched it initially because of the bright cast, but even this can be written down as a minus rather than a plus. There are too many undisclosed characters per square meter, unless Sean Penn and Jim Caviezel were lucky with screen time. I will not recommend this painting.

@nicorette_kid: The most ironic thing is that I once considered this film to be almost the standard of anti-war drama and even recommended it to many. But years later, I decided to review it and just barely mastered these three hours.

It's beautiful, it's magnificent, it's amazing and overwhelming. I reviewed it and did not regret it. I'll start with the background: the new world is my favorite film from the director's paintings. Malik's work is controversial and ambiguous for me. For example, I can't look at a miracle. I don't know why. The Thin Red Line is a deep and philosophical film. The visual and music are simply of a cosmic level. How it works with lighting and framing. How it shows people's emotions before waiting for the frightening unknown. There is fear of animals in the eyes of people.. It needs to be seen. Enough big words and epithets. Not everyone will like the work of this man, but he will find his admirers. Finally, the cast. How could he put them all in one picture? I'm not sure, but it seems like no one will do it again. I do not condemn those who did not like the film. We need a deliberate revision of the picture after some time.
