I never bothered to watch this movie in the cinema, for some reason it wasn't shown here, but I saw it on cable TV. Well, the so-called "cable". In fact, there were several video recorders (sometimes even one) from which enterprising uncles played Western films, connecting them with a cable to apartments. All this cost a certain penny, of course, so I watched the movie with friends โ€” my parents connected to cable after the eighty-fifth.. An infinitely sweet and kind film, carefully squeezing tears out of the viewer. The alien looks very harmless and helpless, it's not even clear what the hell he was doing on an interstellar research expedition. But it's incredibly touching to watch. And what a sweetheart Drew Barrymore is! I think there's nothing to recommend here, everyone has seen it anyway. And I reviewed it once again and decided to write a few words just for those who might also want to review it. By the way, I found a 2002 reissue with additional and modified scenes specifically for this purpose. I won't say that I just started playing with new fairy tales, but it was fun to compare!

I'll never stop watching it periodically, one of my favorite movies ๐Ÿ’ฅ
It's a pity that I missed this movie when I was a kid. Kind, family-friendly, with music by the great John Williams. By the way, Coldplay uses the melody "Flying" when the band goes on stage (I learned from a documentary about the composer). But, unfortunately, I couldn't fully get into the story. The 24-year-old age still took its toll :D

The first half is fun, child-friendly and family-friendly. The second half is sadness-sadness-longing. A two-hour movie. And not about aliens, but about friendship and mutual assistance. In four years, the series "Alf" will be filmed, where the alien will also live in a large, friendly, well-to-do family. But it will become more fluffy. In general, it resembles all films about unusual pets, "Paddington Bear" in the same place. It's a good movie. It is better to watch in childhood, on Sunday, with mom, dad, brother, grandma and dog.

I also thought about "Bo's Shop" https://myshows.me/view/18661 / from the same place. An alien pet lives in a well-to-do "family" of St. Petersburg students
