The film is interesting, but it seems to have been under-edited. There are a lot of strange (and unnecessary) scenes that make the plot sag in places.
P.S. Funny, but I didn't know in advance that Christian Bale was playing here.
I've never seen a child play like this before. And even in modern films, when time has changed, children grow up and get smarter faster, I still did not notice that they played their role like that. I think being an actor is an innate talent for Christian Bale.
In general, it's great that Spielberg often makes films where the main characters are children/teenagers. I wouldn't say it's that common even now.

In this film, all human feelings are intertwined into one film, and the long–awaited meeting with parents is like waking up from a painful, exhausting dream. In it, a spoiled boy, after meeting enemies and imaginary comrades, turned into a man who fully understands life.
