At the very beginning of the XX century, the English archaeologist Professor Aitkins (Donald Bisset) together with his son Charles (Peter Gilmore), they are chartering a ship to search for the sunken Atlantis, we will not tell the captain and crew anything about the purpose of the voyage. They plan to sink to the bottom in a bathyscaphe, a special device built by engineer Greg Collins (Doug McClair). At the moment of diving, they are attacked by an underwater monster that resembles an extinct plesiosaur, but the scientists manage to fight back. They find a golden statue at the bottom and when they lift it on board, the crew mutinies, the professor is injured, and Charles and Gregory fall to the bottom of the ocean in a bathyscaphe due to treacherously cut ropes. But the sailors' joy was short—lived - a giant octopus rose from the depths and dragged the statue back into the sea, simultaneously exterminating the crew and at the same time taking an unattended bathyscaphe.. This is a very impressive mix-up. Of course, by the name it is clear that the heroes find themselves in the mysterious Atlantis and have a lot of adventures there in an attempt to survive and get out. It won't do without a beautiful girl, otherwise what kind of adventure movie is this?! Of course, all this is very naive and somewhat simple-minded, but it is beautiful and driving. Monsters don't look good nowadays, but it's understandable! But then it was very impressive. I personally ran to watch it at the cinema several times, I really liked it! And even now I have reviewed it, albeit with a somewhat nostalgic, but with pleasure. I read a little bit about the film, it turned out that director Kevin Connor and actor Doug McClair shot four similar adventure films together, but for some reason I only saw this, the last of them. We'll have to check out the rest sometime! I will not recommend it, decide for yourself!
