"Based on a true story" series starring Kaley Cuoco will get a second season

Streaming service Peacock has renewed satirical comedy "Based on a True Story" for a second season. Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina, who played the main roles in the first part, will also return in the new episodes.

The series was inspired by a true story. According to the plot, people's obsession with tru-crime and serial killers grows every day, which Ava and Nathan decide to take advantage of. They have a baby on the way, but the couple can't even pay their house bills because Nathan has lost his job. Ava finds an unexpected way out: create her own tru-crime podcast about a serial killer. But they go too far.

The showrunner for the project is Craig Rosenberg, who has worked on the TV series "The Boys" and "Preacher". Rosenberg is also producing the show along with Jason Bateman and Kaley Cuoco.

A release date for the second installment is not yet known.
