Disney+ has renewed the series "Percy Jackson and the Olympians"
Disney+ has renewed "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" for a second season, based on the series of novels by Rick Riordan.
The first installment, which premiered in December, ended just over a week ago on January 30. The series impressed critics with a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and racked up more than 110 million hours of viewing on streaming platforms Disney+ and Hulu. At the same time, according to Variety, the project's audience grew with each episode.
The first chapter of the project told about 12-year-old Percy Jackson, who learns that he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon. Percy is sent to a special camp for half-bloods, where other half-god children are sent to hone their unique abilities. Percy soon receives his first assignment: with the help of his friends Annabeth, Athena's daughter, and satyr Grover, he must find the lightning bolts stolen from Zeus.
The new season of the show will be based on "The Sea of Monsters", the second novel in Riordan's series. In it, Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood will go on a quest to find the Golden Fleece.
