Rake: Season 1

A gorgeous TV series with a wonderful, non-trivial and vivid main character. A lover and favorite of women, an unorthodox, scandalous and indecent, but surprisingly talented barrister and a clever court defender, a cynic, a demagogue and a professional without complexes, but not without principles, in a crooked wig, but with a brilliantly suspended tongue, a quick and uncluttered mind, a gorgeous sense of humor and magnificent formulations, and not only judicial- legal. An extremely extraordinary and charismatic image.

The action is filled with completely exotic cases and hilarious lawyer tricks. However, the non-professional, personal life of the main character is also very entertaining and full of adventures and misadventures. It's not boring to watch. Good uncut editing, good acting, witty, informative plots and dialogues with a clever and accurate mockery of the hypocrisy and hypocrisy of public opinion, the duplicity of politicians and the vagaries of the justice system.

In recent seasons, more time has been devoted not to court battles and legal incidents, but to all kinds of relationships, family and other everyday vicissitudes of the characters. The beginning of the third season was a little confused by the plot unjustified tragedy. There is a certain artificiality of the script turns and the hackneyed comedy techniques. Anyway, it turned out to be a great, fresh, not stupid, but funny and perky series. I confidently recommend it.

Language. It's not easy to understand. They say it's mostly good and correct, but it's often difficult because of the environment. In addition to legal terms and all kinds of slang, including criminal slang, there is enough non-trivial vocabulary, wordplay, idioms, quotes and allusions. The main character is particularly intricate in his expressions. Subtitles, in my opinion, will be very useful.

I decided to review it from the beginning before joining the fifth season. And Christ on the bike, what kind of lyrics are there. Not a single unnecessary, optional line.

And this is despite the fact that at first there were just three plots written more for fun, which the channel liked so much that they were developed first to six episodes, and as a result to five seasons. Rox is the main king and one of the co-creators of this show, and therefore his friends and acquaintances are mostly in the roles here. And the Australians have a lot of them! For example, he played with Weaving at the Sydney Theater for many years, starred with Matt Day (David Potter) in The Hound of the Baskervilles, and Russell Dykstra (Barnyard) starred in the film Romulus is My Father, which Rocks directed.

From vegetarian to cannibal

One of my favorite episodes is a great case study, the topic of cheating from all angles, and an excellent conversation with Fuzz about Iago. And most importantly, it shows well how much Cleaver really gives his best if he believes in the case.

By the way, the first Mrs. Dana is played by Sylvia Colloca, Roxburgh's wife.
