I don't watch a lot of Australian TV series, "Straits" with Brian Cox on a whim, I can only remember, but this one specifically... It's not for nothing that the Americans tried to launch their remake - this already says a lot. Let it be technically simple, not bright, without director's and camerawork delights, BUT the plot, dialogues and acting at a very high level more than pay off the controversial disadvantages. An enchanting comedy with a touch of drama - what else do you need? And judging by the comments on the season, no one is watching it... At the same time, people comment on the "Head teachers" from HBO with pleasure, although it's not clear where to laugh there, imho, but people are watching... Although maybe I have a problem with humor and I don't understand something?

A gorgeous TV series with a wonderful, non-trivial and vivid main character. A lover and favorite of women, an unorthodox, scandalous and indecent, but surprisingly talented barrister and a clever court defender, a cynic, a demagogue and a professional without complexes, but not without principles, in a crooked wig, but with a brilliantly suspended tongue, a quick and uncluttered mind, a gorgeous sense of humor and magnificent formulations, and not only judicial- legal. An extremely extraordinary and charismatic image.

The action is filled with completely exotic cases and hilarious lawyer tricks. However, the non-professional, personal life of the main character is also very entertaining and full of adventures and misadventures. It's not boring to watch. Good uncut editing, good acting, witty, informative plots and dialogues with a clever and accurate mockery of the hypocrisy and hypocrisy of public opinion, the duplicity of politicians and the vagaries of the justice system.

In recent seasons, more time has been devoted not to court battles and legal incidents, but to all kinds of relationships, family and other everyday vicissitudes of the characters. The beginning of the third season was a little confused by the plot unjustified tragedy. There is a certain artificiality of the script turns and the hackneyed comedy techniques. Anyway, it turned out to be a great, fresh, not stupid, but funny and perky series. I confidently recommend it.

Language. It's not easy to understand. They say it's mostly good and correct, but it's often difficult because of the environment. In addition to legal terms and all kinds of slang, including criminal slang, there is enough non-trivial vocabulary, wordplay, idioms, quotes and allusions. The main character is particularly intricate in his expressions. Subtitles, in my opinion, will be very useful.

Yes, anyway, the Australian version is much better, more interesting and juicier than the American remake. That's why he's been living for 4 seasons.
