It's a good series.
Now I will definitely read the book. I feel like I'll be drawn to Victorian literature for a long time.
The modernised ending (a public kiss in Victorian England, and a girl leaving with a virtually unknown man) is very appropriate, immaculately beautiful, and leaves a pleasant aftertaste from the whole series :)
Sometimes it's useful to relax, watch a similar love story, get distracted, get carried away. For a couple of days, this atmosphere of cold and harsh Victorian England, in which, however, there is a place for happiness, inspires you, and then it passes, erased by everyday worries. But pleasant impressions, similar to old pictures, remain, and they are known to be very important. Moreover, the plot pleases with the absence of excessive sharpness, the narration goes smoothly and gradually leads to the outcome that we expect, but it does not get worse.
What I liked separately was that the characters fully corresponded to their status and time, possessing firm characters: if they allowed themselves to cry, it was for a weighty reason, but they suffered from love quite restrainedly, without losing themselves and the will to live.
