As bae yes, Scully's fanaticism is strange. Although she seems to be starting to believe more and more in aliens and other conspiracy, it pleases. Well, this series, frankly speaking, pushes religion too much, hiding behind Dana's personal feelings about the loss of her child. Against this background, Mulder looks like a 100% potential defendant in the case of insulting the feelings of believers.
Of course, I really liked the moment in the series when Dana touches the corpse with her hands at the beginning, and then after a few minutes covers her mouth and face with them)))) I didn't see her change her gloves at least.
M-yeah, that's who the weird character in the series is, so it's Scully. As unexplained phenomena, everything is from a scientific point of view, but as something related to religion, you don't even need to convince of anything, you will immediately believe in everything. And it doesn't even matter that all this was true in the series, the fact is that Scully blindly believes in religion, and Mulder, who very rarely makes mistakes, almost never inserts his scientific point of view everywhere. I'm not saying that I don't like this character, but she's been with Mulder for so many seasons, for so many years, but almost always she'll believe some scientist or sheriff she meets more than Mulder. And she had only seen this Emily, they had never even really talked to her.
I don't understand the general condemnation of Scully. Her faith is understandable. She grew up in a religious family, she went through a terrible illness, she lost her daughter (yes, they were together for a short time, but knowing Scully's desire to have children and her infertility, the attachment is quite understandable). Yes, she was leaving the church, but the last two points I mentioned influenced the return of faith. She has experienced a lot and her faith is all that she had and all that holds her. It's stupid to condemn her for this. In addition, we have been clearly shown that angels and demons exist in this universe. Scully saw it all with her own eyes and not for the first time (remember at least season 3, episode 11). So why shouldn't she believe it? There is only a discussion of a certain canonicity of the religious branch in the series, but not a condemnation of Scully for this. If we talk about the series itself, then, gods, how pleased I was with Seraphim. Have you seen taurus? I think I laughed more than ever. Was it really impossible to make a taurus and an eagle, and not a raven, in 98?Well, it was funny to find out where the "Supernatural" stole the idea with burnt eyes.
How infuriating Scully's attachment to "daughter" is. It's so forced that it's unbearable to watch, and when the girl in the vision babbled "mommy, please", I asked for the same thing, just so that Scully would finally be shaken out of a moronic trance.
The religious theme in the series has become too much. Well, how much can you talk about angels, prophets, sins and visions? And the manner of narration "first we will tell you what happened at the end, and then we will jump to the starting point" is already tiring. Mulder is the only constant sunshine here, I was very glad to see him. I was already beginning to get upset that I would have to endure these forty-five minutes of despondency and suffering from nothing without him.
@Underwood: the topic of religion is raised a couple of times a season and everyone was exhausted in the comments, they just watched and suffered, as if they were eating a cactus
mixed feelings from the series. On the one hand, subtly gave Scully a new test of faith, and it's interesting how her faith correlates with Mulder's faith every time. On the other hand, angels and the devil with horns somehow do not fit very well with the mythology of the X-files. some kind of "supernatural: the beginning"))
There have been a lot of religious episodes since the first season. I don't understand why there is so much criticism. "Propaganda of Christianity", lol. And the propaganda of UFO conspiracy is normal? A great episode. Mulder: "I'm in a hurry, I'm following the suspect" and runs to the porn cinema.
It's quite ironic. Where Mulder zealously proves that the supernatural exists, Scully is a skeptic, and where Scully blows the roof off faith, the skeptic is already Mulder. I like such episodes, because Mulder just translates my thoughts in them. 😁
I love the religious episodes in the series, but I especially liked this one.
It is not entirely clear why Scully's religiosity causes such a strong shock to many commentators. She was born and raised in a large, religious family, and she was instilled faith in God from childhood. You can't just get rid of it. In addition, having gone through so many trials recently, Scully clings to something "exclusively her own" - work, investigations in SM are what they share with Mulder, their whole life no longer seems to be separate from each other. But faith in God is something that is unique to Scully. Mulder WANTS to believe that his sister was abducted by aliens. Scully WANTS to believe in God. Also, as to why she, being a skeptic about UFOs, believes in God, I have a theory - in her mind, God is someone like a Big Boss. That is, you definitely need to believe in him. If people believed in UFOs and built temples to Martians, then some kind of alien would be the "big boss" for Scully, but faith in God would certainly be from the category of mythical. A scientist may well be religious, one does not always contradict the other. Besides, philosophy and theology are also sciences.
The affection for my daughter is understandable. Scully actually wants to be "normal." I think that for a short time while she was with Emily, that's how she felt - even though she has a very unusual job, an unusual partner, she is privy to secrets that few people can control, she was stolen by aliens. But she has a child, which means she's more normal than not. Plus, she initially knew that she and her daughter had very little time, and she barely recovered from a terminal illness herself - the feeling of an imminent end makes emotions stronger, develops relationships faster. You just know that you have very little time, so you try to "keep up" with everything.
Scully in this episode is very fragile, a little lump. When she is in this state, it finds a special response in my soul.
