It is unclear where Merlin's mother suddenly appeared from... I doubt she arrived as soon as she got sick, because it's not that fast to drive, and they all have super serious magical illnesses there.
@oakhmedova: Blacks have been in England since the time of the Roman Empire, mostly they were hired soldiers (not slaves). Since the 13th century, there have been rare mentions of the black Moors. At the court of King James the 4th in the 15th and 16th centuries there were many black Moors, who mainly worked in military positions, were musicians, dancers, artisans and sometimes just guests.
@hamstereno: Speaking of James IV, do you mean the Scottish one? There have only been two kings named James in the history of England, both of whom were on the throne in the 17th century.
@oakhmedova: This is not medieval England - at the beginning of each episode it says - "in a mythical country, in the time of magic." In my opinion, it is not necessary to project a real story on a series created based on legends and fantasy.
Finally, smart people. If you read the comments, you just want to say: guys, relax, don't be nervous! We are watching a fantasy family series. This is primarily a fairy tale. I'd like to get rid of fairy tales right now. To you in other series, people
@JiffyQ: Dragons themselves are quite greedy and selfish creatures. So here you can understand - he just wanted to be free, and for this you need to return the magic, which Arthur will do, being king) :
How beautiful Nimway is. And I'm not really sure if Merlin is good and she's not. He could have left everything as it was, but he went to change Arthur's life for someone else's. And then someone is to blame
that is, how is it "for someone else's"? It is made clear to us that the young magician was eager to give HIS life. Of course, he didn't know how it would turn out, but we can't judge him for that.
Oh God, what if it's not love: don't go away; I'm ready to give my life for him. Uther even felt sorry for him when he carried Arthur in his arms. What kind of security is this if anyone can pass by? No wonder there are so many problems in the castle. I didn't understand what was wrong with the dragon, but somehow it's a shame for him: to enlighten a wizard, and then he throws you so hard. In the end, I got confused about who gave their lives for whom, it's only clear that Merlin leveled up.
- Do you have any talents, Merlin? Although..by nature, I am kind and sensitive. IN GENERAL, LIFE
Asshole dragon, what kind of "he enlightens Merlin"? He's already fucked up with this fate. "Merlin, you have to give your mother's life for Arthur, any person close to you, you have to let Uther, Mordred die, everything is for fate, it's necessary, Merlin." Under the wrapper of fate, you can hang any noodles on Merlin's ears, without explaining much. A fire-breathing bastard.
I didn't remember the events of this episode at all and watched it with great anxiety. She sat in tears when Merlin said goodbye to Arthur, and then when he read Gaius's letter. I thought Gaius was really going to die. The dragon has already lifted up, to be honest. Only Merlin said "no", so he immediately breathes fire, moron. The two most infuriating characters are Uther and the Dragon. And then, Uther is sometimes even still normal.
As a child, I didn't like this series, but 10 years later, I decided to watch it. And I was pleasantly and surprisingly drawn in. I hope the following seasons will be even more exciting
damn, how do they not notice what is in front of their noses: magical devilry is happening, monsters from myths and fairy tales appear, but the prince and the king persistently insist that this does not happen, and Merlin knows about Morgana's gift, but still goes with Arthur to where something bad will happen
Reviewing this season, I understand that this is just the beginning. Getting up to speed, so to speak. Only at the end does the main storyline begin to be viewed. The episodes click like seeds, I never even rewind the screensavers, I like this exciting music and previews for future episodes so much.
Regarding the last episode. I cried at the way Uther carried Arthur, and at Gwen's words. And how she was embarrassed by Arthur afterwards. The special pleasure is that in the original, Arthur does not call her Guinevere, but Guenevia. I don't share the opinion of many people about the dragon. He really only cares about his freedom, and will do everything to bring it closer. And it makes perfect sense to me.
It is immediately clear that the dragon will not just leave it like that. And it's kind of unfair. Everyone who was not lazy went to chat with him, but in the end no one wants to help. Of course he pursues his goals, he clearly said - Uther will die and the dragon will be freed. In general, I still have mixed feelings about the character. Gwen is not a beauty, of course, but the spark between her and Arthur slipped through in previous episodes. How he cared and didn't want her to go to battle in the village. It seems to me that their couple is breaking the foundations. It would be great to see them together. I thought Gaius was going to die, I even cried already. It's great that everything worked out. Merlin is so naive. Does he really think that everyone around him should help him just like that? Arthur is always climbing somewhere and Merlin has to sort everything out. Does Arthur really believe that this is all by coincidence? Weird
I've seen comments about the "great and incredible bromance" everywhere I can, like everyone else, I really love all kinds of bromances and that's partly what made me start watching the series. But I don't see any sort of bromance here yet. Yes, Merlin is attracted to Arthur, but he is driven rather by duty, which everyone around him keeps telling him, yes, he has already got into Arthur, but again they were artificially brought closer. But Arthur treats Merlin often like shit, in the beginning it seemed funny, but by the end it wasn't very much, Arthur literally stands still in this regard and it pisses me off. If Merlin doesn't reveal his secret to Arthur, then nothing will change. Arthur will not treat Merlin as an equal until he finds out what he really is, and until then Merlin is just a servant to him.
@SantaJul: . The fact that they communicate like this is already a huge breakthrough in class relations. Arthur went to the ass of the world in episode 4 to save Merlin, and in ordinary skirmishes he always sends him away in order to take the fight on himself. This story takes 5 seasons, so it's too early to judge the friendship between them.
A good, kind series. I really liked season 1. It was filmed a long time ago, probably it seems a little naive, but it really comes in. I'm waiting for new adventures of Merlin and Arthur)

P.s. Sneaky Nimua, ruined Merlin's only shirt!!!
