Six years ago, I would not have believed what I wrote now, but: THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS.
I even waited a year before I started watching the fourth season, reviewed the previous three to make sure that AD is still the best sitcom I've watched (and I was convinced), but from the very first minutes of the new season it becomes obvious that something is not working. But I couldn't figure out exactly what it was. Even the color and position of the camera seem alien here. Maybe it's true that color trading spoils everything. Perhaps the complexity of the plotlines is forced: the original episodes were an example of a perfectly written comedy that works on all levels, for any audience; now, each story needs to be made as ornate as possible for no apparent reason. For sure, Hervitz just has more freedom on netflix, but these meta-jokes have been tired for a long time, there are too many of them here. And no one needs them in 2013, except for some cretins who are OK with comedies on CBS (well, you get it, right?).
I also wanted to write the word "intertextuality", but I'm not sure if it's appropriate here, because I do not know the meaning of the word "intertextuality".

they've made a huge mistake, as I understand it?

In general, the new season has its advantages: there are fewer funny jokes, but satire and absurdity are many times more
, and the intricacy of the plot is explained by the format of the series on Netflix: in previous seasons, which were released one episode per week, the creators could not afford to confuse the viewer so much, because all they would have to wait for the next episode was curiosity, and a week from There would be no trace of him, and he would probably have forgotten some of the storylines during this time.

I wrote correctly about the format - if you throw out all the episodes in one day, then it's really better to complicate it all somehow, I didn't think about that. Anyway, that doesn't excuse dumb cameos of people who don't belong there at first. Especially Uig with Rogen, Uig with Rogen - fiiiiiii.

btw, I just came across:

"This is the first act that we would like to finish this movie" (it should have been "finish the movie", probably), said creator Mitch Hurwitz at that time. "These are the episodes that will prove it. Each of them will not be complete without the other."

Personally, I'm hoping for a fifth season.

But I disagree with the commentator above. The fourth season is completely different, and is perceived not as another season, but as a separate film, but damn, it's still beautiful. Heaven bless Netflix and everyone who was able to gather their favorite actors for as many as 15 episodes, because there will always be few Bluths, you always want more and more and another series... Now we are waiting for season 5!

A strange impression after watching it.
It seems like an interesting way to present it is a complicated story that gradually reveals itself and all new puzzles become known. I really love this style of storytelling, when each episode is shown on behalf of different characters. It's nice to anticipate some turns of events or notice other characters in the frame.
There are references to the old seasons, we used a lot of chips and we are pleased to have all the characters (who have practically not changed in appearance). It is interesting to see how they developed and what happened to them over the following years.
But after watching it, there was not a very pleasant aftertaste. Last season seemed to be completely completed and everything seemed to be said, but there are a lot of storylines in which you get confused, and there are several unresolved moments, incomprehensible things, an unfinished storyline. And whether and when the sequel will be filmed is a big question.
So it's worth thinking more before watching, so as not to spoil the impression of previous seasons.

I didn't like the submission format. On the one hand, it's a very cool trick to keep the intrigue of one day for so long. But the series, in my opinion, has lost a lot due to the fact that the interaction between the characters has been so much reduced. Olso, they were cut very unequally: Lindsey was not enough, my beloved Job was absent for half a season. And the series dedicated to the unloved character (Mr. Eph!), I had to literally force myself to watch.

aaaaaaaaaaa, why-why? Seth Rogen is apparently a fan, and resurrected the series for the sake of the episode. The first episode of hell - ostrich is a great point...

It's so unusual to look at the older ones) Although everyone remained the same as they were, and that's great) Michael was very amused by his behavior)) I really liked the scene with the voices at the airport) It's just a pity that Lindsay wasn't there.

Only the first episode had no idea that there would be some kind of intrigue, a confusing story and views from different sides, and all this is so openly discussed, as if it were comments under the final episode of the season =\
p.s at the ticket counter there seemed to be an actor who played Andy in Modern Family :)
