And at that moment, the story went beyond the world we had believed in all along, and reminded us that we were watching a TV series. There was a story, but it became a meta-story. (And then the creators went even further and, through the recording of the first episode, reminded us that everything previous was also part of the series written by the screenwriter.) But it's all about the content, and there's also the form.

Very simplistically, the content is the meaning, and the form is how this meaning is conveyed. There is a story, and there is a book, a movie, a song, a comic book — and each of these forms has its own expressive means that the author uses to tell a story and convey his ideas.

And so, we have a meta-story about Sabrina playing herself in the series. And this episode of the series is a form that has a greater impact than if we were reading a book about Sabrina, the actress from the series. The meta form.

Actually, the use of classic serial techniques like "in previous episodes" and "to be continued" in a series with a meta-story is also part of the form that emphasizes the content.

And, by the way, since that's the case, I've been thinking: but the first time we were shown this world, Hilda told a completely different joke when meeting Sabrina than in this episode. I think this is also a reference to serial stuff, when one episode ends on a certain scene, and the next begins with the same scene, but there are some changes in the scene, new details, camera angles and all that.
