It's always nice to watch a happy ending after a lot of trouble. One thing surprised me. It's strange that the creation of the soundtrack was left behind the scenes. Because the musical accompaniment is one of the grains/important cog /recognizable detail in the film.
I feel a little sorry for Ruddy. As a result, he began working on his own and not on the sequel to "father", and judging by the film search, he was stuck in B-movies for a long time. 😔
@sib13: He had various films, both super-popular with the public, but received by critics without enthusiasm (just such a film is mentioned at the end of the series, which is with Reynolds, "The Longest Yard"), there were projects misunderstood by the public, but became iconic (with Ralph Bakshi, Coonskin), and from everything we can conclude - a man did what he wanted without depending on fame, did what he had his heart set on, and that's very cool - doubly cool in this kind of business.
@sib13: Let's be honest. I didn't say he was a bad producer. But there's a gap between KO and the Million Dollar Baby from movies that we don't even know in Russia. He chose what he wanted. It's just a bit of a pity that such a punchy person didn't reap anything for decades after such success :(
As a result, we can say that Ruddy produced a wonderful series about himself, creating a fascinating story, a catchy image and atmosphere, but we are unlikely to ever find out how it was with the undoubtedly iconic film.)
I thought there would be a second season about the Godfather 2, but now I realized that there wasn't. This series is based on Ruddy's book, and he wasn't in the second movie. Although you can think of something...
It's a pity that he gave up on the second godfather after all. It's a rare case when he miscalculated and got really bogged down in some junk. Although, if he was happy in the end, then well done. There is a feeling that he has regretted his decision throughout his life.
A good, dynamic series with a pleasant aftertaste. I wish we'd always done that. I watched all 10 episodes in one go and was satisfied. The story really turned out to be no less interesting than that of "Father" and it was worth making a movie. And it doesn't even matter how many fictions and inaccuracies there are - the narrative itself is fascinating and at the same time all movie fans have been given something of their own. Everyone won, it's even a pity that we won't see the second season, but maybe it's for the best - sequels almost always turn out to be weaker than the original. PS: But I only learned about the film "The Longest Yard" from the so-so remake with Adam Sandler. Take a look at the original...
What a great idea, it would make a great anthology for a bunch of seasons, one season = one cult movie. And Hollywood is doubly full, and the audience is thrilled.
I looked at it in one breath. You need to watch in hdrezka voiceover with juicy Bob and Charlie mats, which you laugh at, rewind and laugh again, then change the voiceover to English, and there's nothing but fax, but the intonation of the original delivers incredibly))
I knew that the mafia was involved in the shooting, but that my own studio and colleagues were constantly putting sticks in the wheels...But when the film grossed, everyone immediately pretended like they were working together and not trying to destroy it at every turn.👌
Coppola about the series: "I think that's the producer's point of view, but in my opinion, it doesn't really reflect what really happened." And at the peak of the series, Coppola could give the go-ahead to a spinoff sequel about the Apocalypse today. they already have Coppola-Fogler and Brando-Chambers. there is a video about the nightmare of filming the apocalypse. "My film is not about Vietnam; it is Vietnam." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFUVApV2Rgo You can also have a spinoff about the difficult creation of Star Wars. as it was already written here. with cameos by Coppola-Fogler, Spielberg, Scorsese. He and Lucas were friends. "Christmas is the best time to premiere." until Spielberg and Lucas arrived. and then Peter Jackson and Cameron "brought back Christmas" again)
@berion87: Lapidus: The main reason for divorces is this... marriage) Evans was married 7 times! Ali has been on it the longest. and from her the only son. Did McQueen see it?🤬🤣
I really liked the series, it's just a pity that Joe Columbo was left behind the scenes and with an open ending. Perhaps (purely a guess), he was one of those who launched the process of changing the mafia. There was no accent, but he brought money out of his pocket to the boss on behalf of the "filmmakers", created a league, which is also a big point. It would be interesting to see more about him too.
A gorgeous and very underrated series! everything is perfect in it: the cast, the picture, the plot, the music, the atmosphere in general. That's a straight 10 out of 10

Even if McQueen had seen it, he would have had to be patient. :) She divorced Evans more than a year later.
