The juxtaposition of anti-scientific religious nonsense with the attempts of milkmaids to bring clarity to the study of the disease is a strong topic, and the obvious defeat of the latter makes it so, because the dark people of that time were too far from modern medicine, and were not ready for it... The episode was also shot perfectly, with decent actors and a beautiful direction. So far, the second season is head and shoulders above the first.

Cody Fern seems to star only in the most trashy episodes of this series…

But the fact that the series is very non-standard for "horror stories" is definitely a plus. Yes, there are a lot of nasty moments, but there is at least some full-fledged revealed plot. If we recall all the previous episodes, they raised a lot of questions. Events in them occurred simply "because". And I don't remember that at least in one of the episodes for the entire series everything was logical and clear from the beginning to the end, and then they completed all the lines and gave an explanation of everything that was happening.

It wasn't scary, it was squeamish.... and in the nomination "The most disgusting episode of the season" this one wins)

It would be much more interesting than banal cannibalism...

In general, of course, the whole series is a trypophobe's nightmare. I would like to be warned about this before the start of the series.
