The first season is stretched out enough. After the trailer (yes, until recently I believed the trailers), the intensity of passions and emotions, throwing characters were expected. Only the last episode of the season met expectations. There were, of course, episodes, some moments, but ... "Not enough. It won't be enough." Well, yes, this is a historical drama, you can't really walk around if you don't want to deviate from the truth (which, however, was frankly neglected at times). But I would also like to see the characters' past: Henry's childhood, more Mary and the mother of the Boleyn sisters, for example. It's boring. IMHO.
Wolsey is very sorry, but even more sorry for the poor story. The series is a wild mess of real events and strange ideas, and in the first episodes the number of unnecessary bed scenes that only slow down the plot was incredibly annoying. Some characters were inexplicably introduced and tried to reveal, and then just as aimlessly killed. The plot with the king's sister was completely aimless, as well as with his curly-haired friend and composer. To squeeze the season twice would be the best thing. And even naked Natalie Dormer does not save.
How did the poor ladies in those days have their breasts pulled over ((( I still don't understand why Thomas Talles is needed in the series, I hope to find out in the second season. Although against the background of the departure from the story, first with the death of Henry's sister, and now Wolsey, this is just a trifle (although the king said "No one should know how he died, never", so we do not know the real reason, I'm kidding) The final scene surprised me - to hold on so long that you end up losing your virginity in the woods, Lady Anna, you amaze me.
@mysh_krodetsya: Then the concept of humanism was different. The guy was a believer, he just had complaints about the church, as a result, for a barbecue.
Sam Neal, who plays Wolsey, has been pulling on himself all season. I don't even know if there will be anything and whom to watch in the second season, while the series does not justify its high rating in any way, but it's a pity.
It's strange that no one writes about the very first scene of the episode, where the king, all red, masturbates into a rag held by a servant, and there is another one in the room, I just gasped
It's a human pity for Wolsey, because there was no betrayal on his part. The arrogant faces of the greedy and cunning Norfolk, Suffolk and other Boleyns do not arouse sympathy. It's even worse with pet Thomas, that's where the creature is so much a creature. The most terrible people are these religious fanatics.
Something from Thomas More, I don't understand who was made. I can hardly imagine such a brilliant humanist burning people alive and believing that this was the case and he did everything right. I'm not talking about Wolsey's suicide at all, but it was filmed very effectively.
When I started watching the series, I thought it was something similar to "Kingdom". But alas, this series is much more boring. But it's still interesting to see what happens next. Especially because of Henry Cavill ♥
I really liked the first episodes: the costumes, the beautiful actors, the dynamics of events, and then everything became very boring and slow. My main complaint about Dormer: I've seen her in other films - she was incomparable there, with a real twist; here, with the embodiment of the image of Anna Fiasco, she doesn't catch at all, doesn't intrigue and doesn't leave a mystery, especially if you compare the image performed by Portman in the film. Reese Myers is also pretty overdoing it. Who was the original character was Henry's sister, the character of Cavill and Wolsey.
The behavior of the Boleyn family is annoying, it will be interesting to look at them when they are already being pushed away from everything. I wonder what kind of face Anna will have when she herself will be in Catherine's place. Whether Wolsey was a good man or a bad one, he always did everything for the king and for the king, but the blind king believed others.

(It's not easy how these shots were combined with Anne Boleyn performed by Natalie Dormer)
