@KristinaLove: and I felt sorry for him for the first time when he was assigned to a class for gifted children in an earlier series. He clearly felt out of place there.

The grapes of wrath.
Bart is sent to France under an exchange program and he is forced to live with two slave owners, French winemakers. In turn, the Simpsons got Adlin, an Albanian student who is actually a spy stealing secrets from the Springfield nuclear power plant. Bart escapes from the vineyard of his tormentors and, having learned to speak a little French, informs the authorities about what is happening in the vineyard. He returns home a national hero.

A weak series. One of the most uninteresting in the season. There was a lot more to be squeezed out of Bart's trip to France.
