Description
Recently fired and desperate for work, a troubled young man named Mike agrees to take a position as a night security guard at an abandoned theme restaurant: Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. But he soon discovers that nothing at Freddy's is what it seems.
The songs are wonderful, and the location is chosen superbly. The atmosphere is present.
I will really wait for part 2 (I assume that it will be judging by the ending)
For viewing, I advise both those who fumble, and those who are not very 🙃
In the game, robots, as far as I know, have always tried to kill you (correct if not).
Here they are both good and bad at the same time. In short, it is clear that nothing is clear.
There wasn't enough fun here, you don't expect this in the film adaptation of the game from which the blood in your veins froze in childhood. There is no such feeling at all. It feels like a children's movie. Not scary. Rather, you are perplexed by the decisions of the screenwriters.
Another question, of course, is that fnaf has not only very glass ent, but also very creepy. I think the old fans expected more meat, of course. However, if we take into account the huge fan base of minors, I think that the rating is justified. Perhaps in the second part we will see something darker, of course, and personally I really hope so, because I want more atmosphere of that horror, when you realize that a robot with a corpse inside is literally running after you, and not just a soft toy in which the spirit of a child is sitting.
And if the fact that there are still children now, mb this movie will come to them.
In general, the film is weak. And from the plot side for those who do not know the game, and from the side of horor, which was supposed to dominate the film.
I can't even call him average.
Sorry, but this movie was supposed to be with Saw-level dismemberments. It should have been rated 18+, more adult, maybe a little arthouse, which would have been a small revolution in horror films, the same as FNAF was in horror games. The creators chose the safest adaptation, and I wanted something more risky.
But I'm glad that many people liked it
in general, there was simply not enough dill, and the film should have been на with different expectations, then the impression would have been more positive. I was waiting for the adaptation of the games, literally 5 nights with Freddie, and a separate product and universe came out, which, if viewed from a new audience, and not fans, deserves 6.5-7
That's probably why I liked the movie more. The animatronics performance, the plot with the cop, the thoughtfulness of the dolls' actions were fun.
4/5, I wonder if there will be another part...
What can we say about the actors! The actors, as for me, played perfectly and they were perfectly selected for these roles. Especially Vanessa, that's exactly how I imagined her! The aftertaste from the film is wonderful, but I would like to see William's death a little differently, then how it really was. But there are no complaints about this, since in a film with a rating of 14 + it would hardly have been shown. Well, I'll wait for the second part, and I can give this part a solid 4!
The movie is very beautiful, the animatronics are made perfectly, they look natural and exactly like in the game. The graphics are visible only on a small cupcake.
As the film adaptation of the game is excellent, one feels respect and love for the original source (well, after all, Scott Cawton wrote the script himself).
Matthew Lillard handsome 😍 😍 animatronics costume on his 93 meter height sat down like a cast, it turned out such a creepy giant) Thanks for the references to "Scream" and "Scooby-Doo". God grant him more similar roles
It all starts as a drama, and it's already surprising that there will be a visit to a smarter film with horror elements, and how quickly the picture kills both. Because of empty dialogues and the lack of development of plot branches. For horror, everything is unimaginably sterile and trivial, the guard Mike is scared of a doll three times per film, which is not even clear why he has such an emotion, and so with everything, the screamers are predictable, and the atmosphere of horror is not inflated, for a banal reason, there is no injection of the current situation, rather the opposite, everything is calm, like as if these animatronics are honest guards...and then a farce begins with a confrontation that looks like giveaways, because we saw that robots are almost gods in this building, but the screenwriter decided to debuff them at an easy level.
And the social drama, if at first concretely and straightforwardly followed a confident course, then it was worth crossing it with the history of fnaf, so immediately the concept collapses, this is a coincidence and once again a coincidence, this is the thesis of the screenwriters. Stick one paint on another and maybe this combo will come to people. And it would be fine if it was still fun and cringe with a plus sign, so no, it's tedious and faded against the background of those who are intentionally doing badly, seeking a bashful reaction.
Visual: 9/15
Atmosphere: 7/15
Soundtrack: 7/10
Main characters: 12/20
Minor heroes: 6/10
Plot: 15/30
Total Score: 56 (Gray Area).
Of the pros - live animatronics, the atmosphere in general, Lillard, in general, the story is interesting
Of the minuses - I was waiting for a bloody movie, but it turned out to be something of the level of a nursery...
I didn't play the game, because I don't understand how :)))))
I downloaded it to my mobile phone 3 times - turn on the light, turn off the light. What to do - xs :)
I liked a similar movie with Cage more :)
Judging by the reviews on American websites, the film did not go to critics. And for me, it's quite a good thriller with an admixture of drama and a small portion of black humor. John Hutcherson, whom I remember from the TV series "Man of the Future", scored five points, and it was nice to see Matthew Lillard! Elizabeth Layl, who played the police Vanessa, looked quite nice, and the plot itself, even if it is not new and loses in madness to the movie "Willie's Wonderland", but it is interesting enough, even if there is almost no intrigue. Yes, you can immediately guess who the kidnapper is, but it still captures. I will not recommend it, it is purely optional to watch.
But, remembering my childhood, and how we played five nights with Freddy at school, I think it's not bad that the film was created not only for adults. It will be scary for children, I imagine how they will remember this vibe later)
If the creators had taken an 18+ rating, I think the film would have been one of the best horror films.
Today I finally watched the movie I expected called "Five Nights with Freddy".
To begin with, I didn't play the game as a child, but as a child I watched the passage of this game on YouTube and heard a lot about it.
In 2021, I decided to play the first part of FNAF, but in the end I already lost on the first night, and I decided not to enter it anymore (but maybe I will try to pass it sometime).
In the same year 2021, I watched the passage of the 9th part and after that I fell in love with this franchise and its games.
I found out about the film sometime in 2019 (although it was announced long before 2019) and I started waiting for it, but it was postponed and postponed, and now it finally came out and what can I say about it?
"Five Nights with Freddy" is an ordinary simple horror movie for one time but for some reason I want to review this movie someday.
This is an atmospheric, excellent and quite interesting film that may appeal to those who have played the game, as well as those who have not played it.
I liked the plot, although it was simple, but quite interesting!
The 109–minute timekeeping passed quite quickly and unnoticed.
Most of the scary moments didn't scare me, but at some moments I was still a little scared.
I liked the cast, I would like to highlight Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Layl, Piper Rubio and Matthew Lillard.
They played great, but the rest of the actors coped with their roles very well.
I liked the soundtrack, it was very nice to hear the song "Five Nights at Freddy's" from The Living Tombstone on the credits, I also liked the original soundtrack.
Also, I would really like to mention the excellent camerawork and atmosphere.
As a result, "Five Nights with Freddie" is a simple but great movie attraction that you can watch and have a great time.
I give him 8.5 – 9 out of 10 and advise him to watch!
In any case, those who hate it clearly do not understand the beauty of animatronics😅
All this time, Scott Cawton, the author and developer of an obscenely overgrown game series, has been baiting stories about how he wants to bring the script to perfection, how he wants everything to be perfect, that he, as the author, will definitely treat the franchise with due respect - and that's why the film is in production hell. Well, judging by the fees, Coughton was right - the movie "Five Nights at Freddy's" (can I not call it as in the official translation "Five Nights with Freddy "? And it sounds very ambiguous) it paid off even at the stage of selling rights to foreign distributors, well, a doublet of simultaneous cinema and streaming shows on the Peacok service provided a hefty 250 million with a budget of 20. And, if I remember correctly, this is also the most expensive horror movie from the Blumhouse studio. In general, Uncle Bloom invested in venture capital and as a producer turned out to be a big winner.
I haven't played any of the games in the series, so I'm not going to hate or praise anything on the contrary. According to the trailers and reviews that I saw, the franchise looked curious, had a curious ent, even if it was full of screamers. So we rely only on the watched movie creation, which, unfortunately, is absolutely not impressive.
According to the plot, security guard Mike Schmidt (played by Josh Hutcherson, a native of the Hunger Games) he messes up at work and with, frankly, not the best track record gets assigned to the only place where his candidacy will be tolerated, the long-closed Freddie Fazber's Pizzeria. In addition to the obvious reasons for working in a suspicious place (well, I want to eat, for example), Schmidt tries to keep custody of his younger sister so that she is not taken away by a nasty aunt who craves all sorts of delicious social benefits (see, this topic is not only in Russia!). But that's not all. Night duty will allow Schmidt to engage in full-length (rather, in full half-sitting-half-lying) dream control. Schmidt, unfortunately, does not read Castaneda about Don Juan, but some kind of nouname in the style of "101 advice to look at the hands while sleeping, but with a noble purpose: to find out what happened many years ago at a family picnic with Mike's younger brother. I must say, Mike crushes haru - my respect, and pretty quickly he begins to unravel a long-standing tragedy. And this despite the fact that the pizzeria is run by sinister noisy animatronics.
I'll start with a good one. Yes, the dolls here are cool. The budget of the film is not just big by the standards of horror movies. Jim Henson's company took over the production of animatronics. Jim himself has been dead for a long time, but his work in the form of, say, Muppets still lives. Well, any "Endless stories " with "Labyrinth " have firmly entered the pantheon of classic movie tales, not least thanks to the developments and designs of Henson's company. In addition, there is a good prologue here, which conveys the spirit and gameplay of the original source, as well as an excellent opening screensaver - gorgeous music and an eight-bit video sequence adjust to the desired depressive-violent mood, which, unfortunately, is not observed further.
Well, let's move on to the bad. It's elementary boring. Literally the whole movie the man is trying to fall asleep. Hutcherson himself is not a megacharismatic dude who can draw attention to the screen with one eyebrow movement, so he also walks around like a sleepy fly. Walking is still good. And then he's sitting, then sleeping. It would seem that an interesting game ENT in the film format does not work in any way, but only raises numerous questions. And if, for example, you put aside all the supernatural crap, there will still be a lot of questions about the logic of what is happening. Well, that is, instead of watching and having fun, the brain is dissatisfied with voicing claims: "But how did it not stink here?", "But how do such people work in such structures?", "But how did no one have any suspicions?", "But where does the money come from to support a non-working pizzeria?", "But how does this theme work with a nutcracker toy, knowing the background of dolls?", " But what are the wonderful coincidences in the fate of the main character and "responsible" [I'll call it that] for the horror happening in the pizzeria?". Well, there are many other questions that I will not list in order not to spoil even more. Obviously, part of this list will be answered in the sequel (well, or in the triquel, which, apparently, has also been given the green light, given the box office), but for a script that has been tortured for almost ten years, it looks like banal laziness. There is an intrigue, but there is, sorry, such stuffiness and incompetence. If a person knows how to make games, it does not mean that he knows how to write good full-fledged scripts. Even Neil Drakmann was just second fiddle to Craig Mazin in the TV adaptation of his own "The Last of Us ". Although, apparently, there are no professional screenwriters left now in general. In addition, if you are at least a little bit versed in horror, then even at the stage of the first credits, one surname with the signature will blaze in front of your eyes: " Well, it will be too easy ". Yes, it will. Thank you for providing such a banality with at least a signature gesture of the character.
However, considering all the components, I have a suspicion that the FNaF film adaptation is not aimed at hardcore horror fans (as, in fact, the game), but rather a cautious entry point into the genre for the younger generation. There is a simple plot, and screeners as a fundamental technique for horror stories (while almost completely ignoring other game mechanics throughout the film except for the first few minutes), and a children's rating of PG-13, and not an adult R, so that the guts-brains-blood. Well, I don't know how for us at one time such an entrance was "Witches" according to Roald Dahl's books, "Toothpicks " or " The Army of Darkness ", and a little later we got hooked on "Omen ", "Alien", "Nightmare on Elm Street " and the first "Sinister Dead ". By the way, the same "Willie's Wonderland ", released a couple of years ago and accused of plagiarism "Five Nights at Freddie's ", looks much more interesting thanks to the adult rating and the annealing Nicolas Cage as a janitor. And I would recommend it with much more pleasure, despite the fact that I watched this movie only half, unlike FNaF. Hell, even a twenty-minute episode of the sitcom It's always sunny in Philadelphia, when a gang came to this kind of institution and eventually burned it down along with the dolls, was cooler.
Rating: 5 sleep paralysis out of 10
I still remember how I caught the very first parts of FNAF, then they were at the peak of popularity))
Rare bullshit
In general, the parody of Five Nights with Freddie with Nicolas Cage (Willy's Wonderland) was much better than this movie.
The only thing that disappointed me about this movie is :
An actor playing the main character . An actress playing a police officer . (Wait, it's TWO things, not one!!1111) . The first one is a little bit no, without emotions . The second one is absolutely nothing, despite the fact that she is still trying to express some emotions. It's at least the third time I've come across this actress, and everywhere she seems to me a little bit of something. Does her father happen to be some kind of producer? This would explain then why she is being pulled into quite prominent projects in the foreground, even though she is some kind of ultra static..
The funny thing is that there are preparations for a good horror. You take lamellar spaces, video limitation, stylization for old shooting on monitors, suitable ambient sound. Animatronics are the main characters, which means we should not forget about the effect of the sinister valley. Introduce some additional frightening element. For example, when animatronics approach, the walkie-talkie could create interference. Animatronics should be shown at a minimum. The suspense should be in pumping up the atmosphere. You have a teenage rating, the creators of this farce can't even turn into a slasher. I'm disappointed
I don't know if this is the case, or the script for the film itself
