Eastern Promises (2007)

A high-quality thriller on an unusual theme and with a bunch of twists. Viggo is giving fire here. And the fight in the bathhouse was beautifully filmed.

There are quite a lot of cranberries in the film, and the first half is quite tedious. Nevertheless, the advantages outweigh significantly, you just have to accept that some scenes are quite long, and the film will be able to carry you through the waves and twists of the plot to your satisfaction

Oppressive atmosphere and high-quality drama. It's an amateur movie, with a lot of cliches about Russians, but I liked it. I recommend watching it in the original with subtitles, because a good part of the dialogues are in Russian

Viggo turned out to be a good gangster…

Viggo Mortensen is incomparable in the role of Nikolai Luzhin — his cold cruelty and inner tragedy fascinate! And the ending… This chilling ending in the sauna is the perfect point in history where even victory feels like defeat. Cronenberg masterfully pushes the tension to the limit! But in general, the ending was a little unclear and the ending was not revealed, there was not enough explanation and disclosure of the story.
