Description
Deformed since birth, a bitter man known only as The Phantom lives in the sewers underneath the Paris Opera House. He falls in love with the obscure chorus singer Christine, and privately tutors her while terrorizing the rest of the crew.
I've read the book now and decided to reconsider
Well...
not much in common
But it's still a pleasure.
Even in the book, I couldn't help but substitute P.O. in the image of Butler😅
Raul came out much better than in the book, but maybe that's because we can't hear his thoughts. Here he is a hero, ready to do anything to save his beloved from a villain, and in the book he is a narcissistic blockhead who is simply jealous of Kristina for another man and wants only him to get her.
The Phantom of the Opera was an egoistic maniac, and he remained so. Yes, he has reasons to be angry at the world, but this is by no means an excuse for his behavior towards Kristina, and even more so for the murders. However, how well he sings, damn it :D
Kristina's character also hasn't really changed much: a narrow-minded young lady with the wind in her head. Seriously, she's got that look on her face the whole movie, like she doesn't have a single thought in her head.
However, the final was more satisfactory. When I finished the book, I only regretted the time I had spent. The film format is much more suitable for this story.
