"The Great" screenwriter is working on a new series about medieval Essex
The show is described as a mix of "The Great" and "Shameless" with a pinch of "Game of Thrones."
Ava Pickett, writer of the TV series The Great One, is working on a new historical comedy. The show, which will be called "Welcome to England", will be about the county of Essex in the 10th century.
The plot will center on Evelyn of the royal family, whose annoying and evil 15-year-old brother Ethelred has just become king. The series is being described as "The Great" and "Shameless" with a dash of "Game of Thrones".
The project is reportedly being developed by Big Talk for Sky Studios, who worked on the series "The Outlaws". But now "Welcome to England" is in the early stages of production, and Sky or any other channel has not yet bought the series.
