The role of Mozart went to Will Sharp.

Paul Bettany ("WandaVision") has joined the cast of Sky Original series "Amadeus". Bettany will play the role of composer Antonio Salieri.

The upcoming series will tell the story of the rivalry between a young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his colleague Antonio Salieri. In the story, Mozart meets a young singer, Constance, and through her connections begins to socialize with court composer Antonio Salieri. Salieri admires Mozart's talent, but soon this feeling develops into envy and then into revenge. Salieri is ready to do anything to prevent Mozart and protect his position in society.

The role of Mozart will be played by Will Sharp, known from the anthology "The White Lotus". The mini-series will be based on Peter Shaffer's play of the same name, which was previously adapted by Miloš Forman. In 1984, he released the movie "Amadeus", which won eight Oscars — including for Best Picture.

The script for the new series will be written by the creator of the crime thriller "Giri/Haji". The release date of the project has not yet been disclosed.

The film was wonderful (although unfair to Salieri, as, indeed, most works on this topic). But I don't even know how it's stretched to the series. Apparently, they will go far from the original.

As for me, Bettany would be more suited to the role of Mozart himself, but Antonio should be played by a dark-haired and brown-eyed man.
