"True Detective: Night Country" has become the most popular season in anthology history

The fourth chapter managed to break the record of the first part.

The fourth installment of the True Detective crime anthology, subtitled "Night Country", has become the most-watched season in the series' history. The new chapter, starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, averaged 12.7 million viewers across all platforms.

The fourth season surpassed the first chapter of the show starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, which aired a decade ago. Back then, the series drew about 11.9 million viewers.

Despite the high ratings, viewers seem to be dissatisfied with the new season: it received only 64% on Rotten Tomatoes. "Night Country" writer and director Issa López believes it's due to the "review bombing" that fans of the first season did.

"Night Country" is about detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro, who investigate the mysterious disappearance of workers at an Arctic research station in Alaska. To get to the truth, the investigators will have to deal with their own secrets buried under the eternal ice.

The problem here is that the new season has not decided what it wants to be. On the one hand, he could be an action-packed detective in the ice, a la fortetude, but he does not dare. I could have been a full-fledged receiver of the first two seasons (I don't consider the third one; it's complete nonsense), but the creators are not the same, and that magic no longer works. And as a result, the season is about nothing: of the 5 episodes that have been released so far, 10% of the time is devoted to the main plot, the remaining time was divided in half between a parody of the first seasons, such as brainstorming, country tracks with guitar, lengthy dialogues in the car; and the second half of this agenda.
Yes, there's a summons again. It seems that they have already begun to get tired of it, perhaps everything will change soon, but so far everything is as it is: problems of the indigenous population, problems of women, worker bullying, etc.
The result was worse than it could have been, but better than the previous season. It does not compare with the first ones
