Fourteen-year-old boys find themselves at the Suvorov Military School — some following a family tradition, some driven by high ideals, and some not even of their own choosing. Upon entering the school, they can hardly grasp the full demands placed upon them — and, above all, the responsibility that will profoundly shape their future lives.
Since the 18th century, cadet corps have produced noble officers — the nation’s elite, defenders of the Fatherland, the pride and support of high society. These were elite institutions where it was always an honor — and a great challenge — to study. Yet the Suvorov cadets do not immediately recognize their special status. From their very first days, officer-mentors accustom them to a strict military routine in everything, from academics to physical training. Military instructors refer to this training as a “school of survival.”
Gradually, the cadets come to understand the unspoken laws of honor, the depth and continuity of tradition. They become one family, maturing and tempering their will and character. Each has his own destiny, cherished dream, first love. Their families and friends support them and worry about them. Not all of these boys will go on to become military officers — nor is that necessary. What matters most is that they are Suvorov cadets, members of one family — young men who can, and should, be relied upon.
