It's an incredible series. In my personal opinion, this series is the best at the moment. It looked in one go, and basically I lost track of time and just watched.
Hardy as James never ceases to impress.
I even started to like Lorna, before that I was annoying. And not even because she didn't merge in prison, but because she has this charisma, and apparently she wants to be in the game, she likes it.
The sister's hubby was not shown as a drunk in the episode, maybe they will merge him quickly against the background of a duel, or, conversely, there will be no duel and he will start to hate Delaney fiercely, and the crown or India will take him out of the game.
In general, I would rate the series at 5/7 and I'm waiting for the sequel.
The best voodoo application ever, damn it. Did you spend 12 years in Africa for this? The widow did well, I didn't expect it from her. And anyway, this series is really the best so far, peppy.
@roarberry: Here you are writing this with irony, but in fact - finally, at least someone from the GG applied habilitation for a completely selfish and not far-fetched goal, without hiding behind some universal benefits, higher goals and not winding snot on his fist after that. Everything for your loved one. Yeah. Or should I have put my underpants on my tights and run to protect all the humiliated and insulted people I met along the way with the help of a mental connection? Wait, though. Panties are obviously taboo for Delaney...
@tatabsu: It seems that your SPGS has woken up. No one is saying that it is necessary to save the world, it just seems to me that it is already possible to slowly reveal James' African everyday life. He could use his skills in the fight against the company, for espionage, again, and many other personal goals, but no, we will fuck our sister, who is not against it anyway.
@roarberry: as for the past in Africa, I agree, because it is unclear how his gift works. Maybe he couldn't use it for the things you listed above. Who knows what conditions are required for this. So far, it is clear that he can contact Zilfa and, in all likelihood, somehow interacted with his father. But it is not clear whether this connection is one-sided, or whether some kind of consent of the communication object is needed for this. How it works is one way only or both ways. Do you need to know well who you are contacting, etc. And whether he can do anything else. Therefore, I don't see any point in being particularly indignant about this and saying that everyone is doing everything wrong, and even worse.
@roarberry: and who said that he has any other skills besides his connection with his sister? anyway, is there this abilka, or are they just both a little fucked up for love?
@tatabsu: I'm not really outraged, I'm just perplexed. I also wonder why you're taking everything so violently. I have my own view on the series, you have your own.
@maria_krukova: This is the Company secretary who records their meetings. He was also James' fellow soldier, and he was in love with Delaney. James recognized him and is now using him as a spy for the Company.
@maria_krukova: But it seems to me that there will be no duel. Delaney needed to make some noise so that he would have an alibi with plenty of witnesses during the robbery. But killing this fool is hardly good for him right now.
@Pushkin87: That's right, I thought he was looking at his sister, then at this idiot, then back at his sister, and then he would say "No." and leave, after which the credits would roll. But no, we'll see that in the next episode :)
@NeverLoved: I was also convinced that he would refuse this clown in a calm voice and with absolute confidence, because such a chaotic act, it seems to me, is not typical for James.
A carbon monoxide chemist, sweating, eating shit - a credit :D And will his sisters really merge his vile hubby!? Hurray! I've been waiting for this moment since his first appearance. Can someone explain, by the way, why the Americans are also against Delaney, I don't catch up at all, it seems like cooperation was planned... Is it because of the will, or are they just not satisfied with the terms of the deal?
@Sweet-Sweet: He also wrote in his will that after his death the land would go to the Americans (so that the British would stop trying to kill him). So they're trying to kill him.
@DeadDanny: I see, thank you, but there's nothing so terrible about the deal he's offering them, like, well, he's going to trade, what are they all feeling sorry for? ;(
@Sweet-Sweet: Why give up an entire monopoly on the tea trade (and slaves who are secretly sold) if you can kill? Now they've figured out that it's difficult, so they'll take care of their sister.
@Sweet-Sweet: Wait a minute, this is a monopoly on the tea trade!! Yes, with this scenario, he will become extremely rich in a relatively short time, besides, monopolists always interpret their terms. If the hero is throwing up such things now, what will happen when he gets money and power?
Lorna is getting more and more excited. Unlike my sister, my grandfather just said a prayer for everything, and that was the end of it. Although she seemed to like Delaney's nuts a lot. Hardy continues to walk around with the eyes of a sad puppy and brutally kill people (at the moment of ripping open the thug, I mentally repeated, "just don't eat him, just don't eat him), and we continue to love him for it. When the checkmate from the lips of noble gentlemen was already boring, we were given raves with booze and substances at balls. It's hard to believe, especially when you think of Anne Bronte's The Stranger from Wildfell Hall. They had dinner there, and they were naughty, and they taught swearing to children. Hardy promised that by the fifth episode the series will be running wild, so we are waiting for everything to be even better.
This is 100% Hardy's role without a doubt. He's growling, mumbling, biting here, looking with his crazy eyes ready to destroy everything that moves, and you realize how crazy this character is and at the same time brilliant with his ideas. Oh, and this is the atmosphere of the Victorian era, the worst in people here is revealed too well, and Hardy is here as an antihero in the midst of all this darkness and despair.
@hugle: People, look at Wikipedia or something - when the reign of Queen Victoria began. And then they said, "the atmosphere of the Victorian era." There's still a good quarter of a century before this very era.
@SergKhyrnyi: I knew that she was still 20 years old before this era. I am writing about the "atmosphere" of that era, which many people know from many films and books. I just expressed my emotions and associations, not historical accuracy.
@Fotoluksa: Surprisingly, maybe because Tom Hardy and his father are among the screenwriters?? Well, just a guess. and Tom is also an executive producer.
@andrew_starwind: It's hard to disagree, but I'd rather say "lately." up to a certain point, he still played more diverse. After mad Max, he somehow slipped into the same role.
The chemist is a credit! I've been trying to figure out where I've seen this actor before, and now I finally remember - the cousin from Pride and Prejudice For some reason, I am sure that the duel will not take place. It's not time yet) I like the widow more and more. The best episode so far.
@Alexandra_DFB: in my opinion, the actor is still best known for his role in Pirates of the Caribbean, he played the head of the East India Company, by the way)
So far, the quality of the series is only growing: you can't look away from the series for a second, good directing, cinematography and color correction, however, the most atmospheric is still kmk one.
The series finally began to move the plot in an action-packed way, in addition to James' eternal movements from point A to point B.
as for Delaney, I will say that Hardy, of course, is incomparable, but absolutely does not let go of the feeling that he is just playing Hardy + cannibalism and incest. something like "this is how I would be if I lived in the dirty, vulgar and depraved England of those times." Nevertheless, his charisma does not allow you to drown in this feeling, and does it really matter when everything is so organically developing into a great show?
Zilfa is still a mystery to me, I'm at a loss to guess what role she has to play in the fate of the hero, apart from the obvious ones: "love interest", "indicator of abnormality", "weak spot that can potentially ruin"
Bowe seems to overestimate himself, thinking that he can figure out James, at least not so quickly.
The chemist is such a typical sidekick with a couple of cupcakes, a sad story of a genius who works as a buffoon and all that. It's nice, but you can do better.
The last shots are good. Ingratiating herself with the question of whether to kill her husband, in the eyes of her sister, who did not explicitly, but seemed to nod. Beautiful mini cliffhanger.
@antons: She didn't nod at all, she was scared right away and said "no" with her lips. And then they just looked at each other, and Sethra didn't want her husband dead, at least not like this.
So that's how gunpowder is made. :D is a test chemist, it's so delicious to taste the ingredients)) I wonder what Hardy's plan really is, it's unlikely that he seriously expects to get a monopoly.
The ending is in the Lost style. Regarding the duel, it seems that it will not take place. At first, my sister's husband was very annoying, but then there was even sympathy for him.
The series continues to be updated with the cast of "Pirates of the Caribbean". Tom Hollander?! Oh my God, I love it. And he gets colorful roles every time)
the bloody pig's head on a platter at a party, plus the animal sounds that gg hears every time he makes his way through the crowd of party guests, plus the semi-animal faces of the party guests that he sees in semi-focus and which he dismisses with disgust... such a vivid testimony of the attitude towards people
At the party at the end of the episode, only ducks and duck hunters were missing, laughing gas, judging by the mood of this party, was definitely there))
Indeed, all episodes are tense. The script is thought out correctly, and all its abilities will be revealed with each episode, and of course the series itself shows the state of England at that time, quite a lot of historical and interesting facts are provided to us. The series is good for its duration, a lot of questions arise, which gradually open up later in each episode, but instead of these questions, new ones appear, the series deserves a good rating. Tom Hardy and his father have created a masterpiece to date, and I hope that the series will continue to delight us. And it's amazing how strong the main character's thinking is. Even judging by the widow's appearance and his reaction to her, he forces her to follow him, even though she is against it, but she does not even suspect that she is already on his account.
I even gave you a hard time, but that's because I agree with you. Everything is great, yes: the atmosphere, the characters (especially the minor ones), very spectacular scenes.. But so far the series looks exactly like a set of spectacular scenes. And if it was great in the "Young Dad", then it's kind of annoying here.
The series holds the bar with dignity, episode by episode showing the full range of work: directing, screenplay, as well as musical accompaniment, and I give you a standing ovation for that. This series keeps you in suspense from beginning to end, it's unbearably interesting what will happen next.
