And, right, again, another round of Mean Evil Dean violated the right to choose Poor Baby Sam. But why don't we look into the fact that Sam violated Dean's right to choose to take the tests at 8.14? Dean wanted to go through them and he was ready to die and he definitely wouldn't give up.
Why don't we say that Sam, Cas and Bobby took away Dean's right to choose at 5.18, humiliating him mentally and physically when he wanted to go to Mikhail? This whole one-sidedness really got on my nerves.
Another unpleasant moment. In this episode, Sam's head is not!Bobby says Dean didn't do anything to get him out of Hell, that it was all Sam. But this is not the real Bobby, but a part of Sam, i.e. Sam sincerely believes that Dean did nothing. I.e. the fact that Dean killed his friend with his own hands does not mean anything to Sam?
And anyway, I still don't understand why Sam was dying here. He was supposed to be killed by the 3rd trial, but he did not complete it. He shouldn't have died. Why did this suddenly happen to him here? It hasn't been explained. Why did they do it? So that you can throw The Purge in the faces of poor viewers?
And even if we assume that there was a real Death here and who believed that it was an honor for him to take Sam's soul - it means turning Sam into 100% Mary Sue.

As for spoilers, I wanted to warn you that when you get to the comments on episode 12.22, the series finale was spoilered below my comment. Be careful.
I don't believe Dean would do that. Of course, Dean has this mindset to protect Sam because of John's influence, but throughout the series Dean has developed as a person, he is not a static character and he has never been so obsessed with saving Sam as in 8.23/9.01. Even Dean's deal with the demon in the season 2 finale was the result of many factors, and Not just "Sammy's dead, we need to save him."
After all, take the season 5 finale. There Dean let Sam jump into the Cage, he even helped him do it.
In season 6, Dean realized that the return of the soul could kill Sam, but he completed it anyway, because it had to be done.
In season 7, when Sam was dying of hallucinations, Dean wisely tried to find help. There, Dean did not rush headlong and did not make deals with just anyone. I think he was preparing for the fact that it might not work out.
Therefore, all this nonsense about letting an angel in is just for the next stage of far-fetched (melo)a drama that is created at the cost of destroying the development that Dean had before.

By the way, the actor who plays Death is simply incomparable, I see him from season to season and just love his game👍👍A gorgeous character
