"On Saturday, May 11, 25 countries will participate in the Eurovision final, not 26, as previously planned. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has released a statement saying that Dutch representative Joost Klein and his song Europapa have been withdrawn from the final."

Details are being clarified.

@TheWinnie:
The main thing is how well the broadcast is organized. First, the jury votes for an hour and the Swiss is ahead for an hour. And then, in five minutes, the audience vote is dumped out, where it is not particularly noticeable that Switzerland took fifth place. The Croat didn't have enough hide, that would have been an embarrassment - he led for an hour, then lost. The audience has to decide, and there should be fewer votes from the jury, every year it's the same thing. There is a people's winner and there is a winner pleasing to the jury.

It turned out to be a very unpredictable ending. The Netherlands was disqualified in the middle of the competition, the supervisor and Israel were booed, rallies in Malmo, everyone cancels each other, some kind of fuss is constantly happening. There was a lot of booing.

I am proud of our Latvia and the Dons performed well, mūsu lepnums! 🇱🇻

In general, the voting was not very interesting to watch already at the stage when it became clear that even the jury was voting for one country - Switzerland. Overall, I'm not upset about Switzerland's win, but Croatia was somehow closer to my heart.

Switzerland's number is cool, the chorus is catchy, Nemo cool. It's just a shame that the winner's song was without this round sphere, something was missing) But it clearly took time to install it, and you need to get out urgently. HE ALSO MANAGED TO BREAK THE STATUETTE, WELL, EPRST

However, most of the rooms were really strong and good, it was hard to choose. Perhaps that's why I didn't have a super-clear favorite this year (like last year with Finland, for example).

I hoped that Abbou would still be able to get together for the anniversary of the group. But only Abba Voyage got off in the form of a hologram. And Mance was probably kept in the basement, we didn't see him.

Thanks for another year! United by music.

The howling started again, because the ballad won, not the eurotresh with memorable words, but Switzerland's performance deserves the first place. I've been watching this contest for a year and I understand how important it is. Maria Zakharova wrote that the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 surpassed any orgy, sabbath or ritual sacrilege. Funerals in Western Europe are held regularly. No surprises. The competition takes place in May and it is a reminder that countries fight in music/sports competitions, not wars. I was rooting for Croatia. It's a pity that we took second place, but this is the case when the winner does not raise any questions. To arrange such a number, jump on stage in different poses, and at the same time, not everyone can sing so consistently. So with a well-deserved victory, we are going to Switzerland.

This year we were surprised by the scores of some countries to each other from the jury. Did Cyprus and Greece not give each other the maximum score? Did the Baltic states not exchange top marks?? VTF???

A lot of guys liked this year – they were hooked to the point of pain in their souls by native Ukrainians, and a megatalented Belgian (who did not make it to the finals, unfortunately), and an extravagantly progressive Swiss, and even a daring Irish woman with her occult rituals! And how well the Croat sang and danced! In short, half of the show program went straight to the Spotify playlist, as always! This time it wasn't the strongest show of all the past, I'm still impressed by 2021, but this year turned out to be favorable for music, that's the main thing!🎵🎶

Switzerland, with its role of neutrality, was appointed the winner of the podium back in the summer, so they did not work on the song and the number carelessly, they tried to match it.

Hmm... it felt like the final (in terms of organization) turned out to be somehow nervous and tense: the irony and lightness that was so pleasant to watch in the semifinals disappeared in the entertainer, the jokes seemed to have become fewer and they were not so sharp (although the moment with the presentation of digital merch and the runic stone was funny) And the interval acts were not particularly impressed (well, except for the colorful "lady from EBU", who fell in love with the semifinal musical - although this exit of hers, of course, lost to We Love Eurovision Too Much). And somehow Petra was clamped down to a shame - especially the voting looked very strained (which, perhaps, was especially noticeable, because the show that the British staged last year from this procedure is still vivid in my memory). I don't know what happened there, but for me, unfortunately, the final in organization and creativity has sunk.

But the competition concert itself turned out to be pleasant. Yes, not the brightest and most memorable (there were stronger compositions), but, on the whole, quite, quite.

During the viewing process, I decided on my favorite... more precisely, the favorites - for me, Switzerland and Croatia were such. But, although I also love seals very much, however, the aggressive pitch so beloved by modern Eurovision participants and viewers is not too close to me, so of these two, I was more inclined to the beautiful Swiss creation. And I am very happy about their victory!

By the way, it seems that it was Nemo who launched a wave of kindness in the greenroom, the first to congratulate the participant who received 12 points from Switzerland. And how warm and joyful it was to see how performers from the countries that gave him the highest marks alternately congratulated him. Really united by music, really non-political!..

and then! especially how the hall buzzed when Israel announced the results. As the participants demanded "behind the scenes" to remove Israel, some countries even refused to vote if this did not happen (and it seems even someone refused), as the Lithuanian was outraged that speaking after Israel was "the worst thing that could happen." In general, yes, it's all sweetness.

@Cheryl: And I didn't say anything about the audience, or about backstage squabbles, or, moreover, about the situation around Israel or any other countries. The specific moment - the interaction of the participants in the greenroom - was the quintessence of what Eurovision declares (but in reality cannot achieve). At this moment there were no borders, nationalities, political differences, clashes of views and opinions... There were people and sincere emotions. And it was incredibly sweet, touching, sincere and warm.

I don't know, I liked the Croat better. Nemo may sing well while spinning on a turntable, but if you take into account the song itself, then the Croat is a hit, and it sticks in his head. In a couple of years, Croatia's song will not be forgotten, because it is annoying to the point of horror, but Switzerland ...
By the way, the Croat was the favorite with the bookmakers by a huge margin from Israel (2nd place) and Switzerland (3rd place), and here all countries unanimously vote for Switzerland without collusion...
