I don't know why, but it doesn't impress me yet. The first episode was watched with more interest than these three. Maybe it's because I'm already used to the modern Doctor... Although I don't even know, I watch black and white movies. Perhaps it's the nature of the Doctor himself, because now the differences are huge. Although I hope that I just didn't like this caveman theme. Personally, I was not interested in it at all. I can say one thing. If I hadn't heard a lot of good reviews about the Doctor before, I probably would have given up watching. I hope the following episodes will return my interest)
Of course, the story about the cavemen does not bring anything new and does not surprise, but something makes me watch. It's the Doctor.:3 I like the idea that one mini-story can last several episodes, rather than in New School in one. Well, I just like it that way.:3 It was interesting to watch the first episode:3 maybe I'm just not used to old school
And I liked the first story :) And the era is unusual, and the dynamics of the characters are interesting to watch, and there are already reflections on human qualities and humanity in general inherent in the series.
It is worth noting that even here the companions have done a lot to successfully escape from the savages, that is, despite the fact that these are teachers who were not going on any trip, do not trust the Doctor and generally have a bad relationship with him. Starting from this episode, Ian and Barbara gradually began to like me more and more, except sometimes causing negative thoughts. The first Doctor does not yet have as much experience as, for example, the ninth, and it is felt, but at the same time, the image of an experienced elder suits him very well, he actually knows a lot, and prefers not to always share his plans and explanations. Susan is generally an exceptionally positive character. She is interesting, smart, resourceful and at the same time a Gallifreyan teenager, her naivety is almost physically felt.
Yes, it may be a bit long, but it has its own charm. The doctor himself is still, one might say, learning to be a Doctor, whom we all know from new school)) and this gives a special atmosphere to the series. It seems that together with him you begin to master space and time :)
We are all used to seeing the Doctor as being somewhat merciful. And here. The Doctor is a little selfish and I like how the Doctor changes, it's cool to look at the basics and add two plus two, getting over time and with each companion exactly today's Doctor, to whom we are used
Judging by the comments, I am the only one who is pedantic enough to decide to watch old school without checking out new school =D So I only learn about the fact that the Doctor will become kind-hearted from people's opinions. It's even more interesting to follow the dynamics of character development, which will last sooooo long =D
@JoulHarristar: Well, many people found out about the existence of the classics later, but now there are more and more people who watch from the beginning.
@JoulHarristar: No, I also decided to watch from the very beginning. From the beginning, so to speak. Yes, it's unusual to watch this at all, modern TV series generally have a higher speed of action, but there is something catchy about old school.
And I liked the fact that there were no aliens in these episodes about the past (well, except for the Doctor and Susan :D). Here in new school, I was repeatedly hit by aliens in historical / series about the past. A volcanic eruption in Pompeii? The aliens are to blame! The story of Madame de Pompadour? Let the aliens want to kill her! Another episode about Victorian England? Let's get the aliens in there! Well, I'm sorry, sometimes aliens in such series did not fit in at all -_-" Throughout all 10 seasons of new school, I dreamed of a series about the past without aliens. In this regard, I was very pleased with the data from the old school series. I hope that there will continue to be series about the past without evil aliens (ノヮ`)ノ*: -゚
The opinion of cavemen changes so quickly that during this time I do not have time to drink even a quarter of a mug of tea. The main characters of the series are surprised: throughout the series they create some kind of game, they are stupid in a hard way, and in the end someone gets an epiphany, he comes up with a cool rescue plan and they continue to live. Oh, those old TV shows. I wonder if they're all like that? It was written in the facts for this series that after that the Doctor stopped smoking. She screamed from there. Anyway, it was an interesting first trip, a warm-up trip, I guess.

but I don't really like the series about cavemen, but I'm curious what will happen next
