- Nolan refused special effects when recreating the explosion. How? Intrigue
- Cool cast: Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders), Emily Blunt (The Edge of the Future), Matt Damon (Ben Affleck's partner in the film Dogma), Robert Downey Jr. (Air America, Iron Man), Florence Pugh (Little Women, Black Widow).
It promised to be Rami Malek, Ben Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane Dehaan, Jack Quaid and Matthew Modine.
- This is Nolan. A living classic
- This is an important historical film. The Oppenheimer bomb is a key milestone of modern civilization. "We knew the world wouldn't be the same anymore. Someone was laughing, someone was crying. I remembered the lines from the Bhagavad-gita. Vishnu tries to convince the Prince to fulfill his duty and in order to impress him, he assumes his multi—armed appearance, saying: "I am Death, the Destroyer of Worlds" - this is how the physicist described the sensations after the first test.
I'm after Oppenheimer: ☠️☠️☠️☠️
Posh caste, history and implementation😮💨
At the same time, it resembles watching a Game of imitation, Trumbo and Air.
The film is worth watching in the cinema to support this kind of cinema.
Now you need to see Barbie)
In general, it was very interesting to learn more about the Manhattan project (I've never really studied it) + I'm very curious about how many dialogues are reproduced for certain (especially the conversation with Truman).
I clearly have a claim to the choice of the main actor (he is pure Irish), and playing a pure Jew is purely visual dissonance; I can say the same about the actor who played Einstein - the image turned out to be too comical.
The result: for a historical film 8/10.
Nolan has opened up a new side for me, but it seems to me that he makes a more significant contribution to culture as a director of fantastic films.
Most likely, from the whole film a year later, I will only remember this moment, because..
according to the plot, for me it was an ordinary documentary about all the events (although I had watched some documentaries about Oppenheimer before, and they were more informative), just shot super-epic. The film is about everything in a little bit, but at the same time about nothing in particular: a little physics (the process of creating a bomb is not disclosed to me), a little personal love drama (I didn't get into his mistress at all for a couple of these episodes, the wife is revealed a little better), in places about friendship, a little about the war (in general superficially), partly about moral choices and dilemmas, at the top about spies, communists and special services (also not too well disclosed, so their family was a nightmare, followed and searched, and this is mentioned only for a couple of seconds in the hearings), a little about Oppenheimer himself, and most of all about politics.
Honestly, Nolan fans (I love him too, by the way), would you understand that this is a Nolan movie if you didn't specifically go to Nolan's movie? Perhaps he deliberately did not wind up everything that he likes to wind up, so as not to shift the emphasis from the story of a real person, but in this case, this accent was not there for me anyway - the scientist's story was too interrupted by the rest of the plot branches scattered around.
By the way, I was very reminded of the impressions of the film from Chazelle "Man on the Moon " - there, too, the director did not seem to reveal his potential, but simply followed the story and showed "well, in general, it seems like that was it, look. Thank you".
Шикарный фильм, шикарный каст и шикарные саундтреки
The film causes a storm of emotions, feelings, empathy and even contempt. Despite all the contradictions of Robert Oppenheimer, at the end of the film I fiercely despised Strauss... How narcissistic you have to be to decide that Oppi was setting scientists up against him. And just as vindictive to arrange a lynching in the circle of a pack of hyenas. The conversation between Oppenheimer and Einstein at the lake was very responsive and postponed ... How clearly Albert laid out what awaits Robert. And how you need to love science so that knowing all the consequences you can still go this way.
P.S. I take my hat off to Oppenheimer's wife. Knowing the whole essence of her husband, staying close is worth a lot.
It's a great movie, I really enjoyed going to the cinema. I haven't watched any serious movies there for a long time, everything is just adventures, and here is my favorite drama with an extraordinary disaster. I predict that the picture will become a favorite of the award season, I want to see nominations for best cinematography, best editing, sound and supporting roles. About the best film and the male role, so it's clear, these will definitely be.
Oppenheimer's invention still keeps the world from global wars. Yes, there are conflicts, of course, but thanks to nuclear deterrence, they do not escalate into large-scale ones. And I hope people have enough brains to remember the message of such great people as Oppenheimer and others like him, so as not to get into the craziest war - a nuclear one.
One way or another, progress cannot be stopped. Nuclear power would have been invented not today, but tomorrow, not by him, but by someone else. But the world we have now is the merit of those who took responsibility for their invention and defended the idea of nuclear deterrence of countries in international politics. It gave us the world that we have to this day (globally).
Considering our CIS problems today, the film appeared to the world very timely. It is quite important that people, in terms of information and ideas, be aware of the whole problem of nuclear weapons, tell others about it and therefore ideologically prevent the top from making ill-considered decisions. Because it is possible to throw it off, but as with defenseless (in nuclear terms) Japan will not work. To do something like this today is a one-way ticket to the whole world
It was difficult to follow the narration at the very beginning and remember the names of all these people if you were not in the topic initially. But gradually you get involved.
The soundtrack and the representation of anxiety were particularly hooked.
Three hours in a movie in the ass of the city and about 500 rubles for a ticket in a stuffy crowded hall were definitely worth it.
In fact, everything is fine in this film: the acting, the cast itself (you sit the whole movie and rejoice as soon as a new character is introduced), the meaning of the whole story, the color correction is wonderful.
I came out of the cinema in limbo and with some kind of heaviness on my soul
If there was an opportunity, I would have given the film 11 out of 10
This is a super moral and ethical choice, but it is impossible not to realize what is spinning in my head, which will be a super achievement.
The last part shows the entities, shows the environment, reveals all the cards. She collects all the smeared ideas into one. Compresses into one small point, which explodes at the thought of Strauss, etc., and the sound wave and explosion covers when talking with Einstein. That the endless chain reaction they feared was already underway.
These words brought tears to my eyes. To trance and prostration. To a fierce vulnerability when accompanied by music.
And as they said, like a spoiler, the bomb exploded. Yes, it exploded, but the bomb was not there, it and its explosion were at the very end.
Then 2 hours of boredom ...
and only the last hour of the film gives at least some liveliness.
Well, at least they showed that the villains are politicians, not scientists
Many things will become clearer. Still, in my opinion, the film is more about the consequences for the inventor of the atomic bomb and how the state treated him, what about the atomic bomb itself.
But at the same time, still. But. Nolan did not cope with the hero. I never did. But on the other hand, who could?
1. As far as I understood without reading Prometheus, the book was a bit provocative. 2005, all the participants died long ago, although of course there are still many eyewitnesses who are ready to quote the Bhagavad Gita and other anecdotes. So, before that, the story of taking away Oppenheimer's pass by the watchmen, as far as I understood, was fixed in the general consciousness as follows: there was a talented and slightly eccentric genius who fought for non-proliferation and there was an evil militarist Teller who dreamed of a hydrogen bomb (but Sakharov managed to get there before), who, in his militaristic malice, said everything against an innocent Oppenheimer. For which he was rightly ostracized in the scientific community. It wasn't just Kitty who didn't shake his hand. And then the authors of Prometheus come and say: everything was wrong! We got to the bottom of it! In fact, it was a Strauss conspiracy! And it turns out that the book, and then the film, begin to excuse Teller. And they were good colleagues with Robert, and other scientists had poisoned Teller before, even on the Project, and only a terrible woman did not shake his hand, and his testimony did not affect anything. And that in the end he also said good things, and not just about "misunderstanding". In short, this is a typical way of all publicists - to take something well-known and completely expose, that is, not only to accuse Strauss, but also to justify Teller.
So apparently point two will be tomorrow. Ek I was drawn to graphomania.
Just a delight.
My cinematic soul misses the scope of the Aimax, if it was cool for me to watch online, I can't imagine my emotions if I had a chance to go to the cinema.
But yes, the story itself and the throwing of the person who created something so terrible (in fact, no) - this causes a response in my soul.
- Yes, I remember it. And what about them?
- That's what we did.
Are there any people among us who will explain to me why Los Angeles is dubbed when it's Los Alamos? The whole movie was jerked by this pronunciation.
PS - as a smoking person, I thanked heaven that I decided to watch the movie at home with pauses, and not in the cinema, Murphy smokes too aesthetically, I want to smoke myself right away.
I will be happy to review it after a while)
It was unexpected to see Nolan having sex scenes. Cece Florence Pugh
heard that Nolan was criticized for the lack of blacks and he rolled out an argument. and now for the 2-power women's roles. probably soon Nolan will make a movie with a woman in the head. roles.
offtop. I watched it on Dec 2. on the day of the launch of the world's 1st Enrico Fermi nuclear reactor. k-ry was shown in the film. it was built under the stadium.
Yes, I also Googled that Strauss the vindictive dick was involved in the Kennedy assassination.🤪
About setting the atmosphere on fire, I remembered Kuzkin's mother. The same concerns were about the tsar bomb. In addition, they were afraid to cause fluctuations in the earth's surface. They planned to blow up 100 megatons. but it was reduced by 2 times.
Gary plays Harry. Churchill was there. Truman is there. Gary Oldman has to play Stalin😁
Each actor is perfectly matched and in his place, the picture and soundtracks are on top. Even a moment WITHOUT music (the moment of explosion) - silence is the perfect soundtrack for this scene. I don't know who would have picked it up better)
3 hours passed very quickly for me and I had no desire to be distracted by anything.
I don't know how plausible this story is with Robert's real life, but the movie is amazing! Nolan is a genius as always!
The acting ensemble of the best, Florence Pugh, although it seems out of place, while the rest of the actors give heat, Cillian Murphy in particular gets all the attention (which is logical) and recreates a real historical character on the screen and not forgetting about his theatrical tricks and it is impossible to break away from the screen, so much you want to watch.
As a fan of history, especially the Second World War, I understand the context and motives of people, when creating a bomb, fears not only towards the 3rd Reich, but also the USSR, and the entire conflict in the United States, between conservatives and socialists, and all this is transmitted so maturely, the American nation goes so well with such films maturation and painful questions are asked and such wise answers are given. Wow, they scripted the fundamental period of the life of a lot of people and managed to concisely combine this with some touch of detective and vibe of the cinema of the 40s and 50s. What can we say about the message and the moral issue of everything that has happened and will happen. According to such a film, you need to teach children, so you can just take Nolan and include him in history lessons, and why not. Fuck it, we're turning it on.
And of course, when everything is visually on top, when they can show close to realism, and show physicists as smart and at the same time eccentric with their problems and families. And the EXPLOSION of the atomic bomb is probably the best moment of the film for many. And the entourage as if you were in those years and the color of these feelings helps to balance in the soul. It was as if all the stars had come together for an Oscar for Nolan and the whole team, such an original and imbued with love for history film, with no subsidence and no disadvantages, it was as if it was supposed to be released in 2023 and give us a lot of new seedlings for reflection and reflection, we were covered by a storm of events, and the creators are reaching out to us for reflection. I ended up with the same eyes as Dr. Robert Oppenheimer.
Visual: 15/15
Atmosphere: 15/15
Soundtrack: 10/10
Main characters: 19/20
Minor characters: 9/10
Plot: 29/30
Total Score: 97 (5/5 Green Zone).
For me, this is an indicator of the genius of the work. You can always discuss with someone and hear a new point of view.
After watching it, there is something to think about
, but the film itself is a burden. and the end..the amers are smelling at the end of the hero.. I almost fell asleep.
The documentary reveals more about the tragedy of the hero and the hopelessness in a jar with spiders!
p.s. it was the right choice of New Year's Eve movie for me)
I watched it all night... it was enough for 1 hour and 30 minutes, I just forced myself to watch ... and it didn't end, although nothing interesting happened on the screen at all for me!
As a result, I didn't like the movie, but you will definitely watch it. It is considered great. The most tedious chore in the history of cinema.
It's a waste of precious time and a lot of it. And there is zero pleasure.
A big plus for a Good composition..stars of the first magnitude - Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr. Grimm gorgeous at first did not recognize him, doubted that it was him))
I think it makes no sense to talk about a brilliantly chosen cast here at all... personally, Damon got into me the most, besides Murphy. but in general, the whole cast is amazing!
it is a pity that history still remembers a man of genius for only one invention....
ps/ explosion scene in silence… This is a dressing down!!!
You can immediately see that everything is shot on location (and this will always differ in quality and sensations when viewed)
Music, visual - everything is fine, Nolan is a genius.
I can't say anything about the plot, in general, the message is clear and simple, probably the ideal version of a film adaptation of such a story.
4.5/5
And I would cut down on at least an hour of screen time.
The first hour and a half were tedious, by the second hour the plot was stirring a little.
The final dialogue between Opie and Einstein is creepy...
The directing and acting of almost everyone (and here are a couple dozen great actors) is on top.
The scene with the test is something beyond. I fell into a frenzy at home, I'm afraid to imagine how it would be perceived in the cinema.
Live classics of cinema.
According to the film, it is very interesting, but the abundance of names and too much of the story is covered by 3 hours.
I think the series would be appropriate in his story, even a 3-episode one.
And so, it turned out to be a holopam across Europe.
This topic is touched upon a little in the film.
And his wife didn't shake his hand because he testified against Oppenheimer at the hearing.
And the soundtrack....this is clearly something on the verge of space.
I haven't felt such a strong immersion in a painting for a long time.
And the actor with the dumb expression on his face, who is Cillian Murphy or RDM?
I don't really like him either, but he's very talented and very good at acting.
