Gunpowder treason and plot,
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
I watched this movie for the first time a long, long time ago, I forgot all the details, and because of my age I did not understand the meaning of this film, and there was not much interest. Today I decided to review this movie.
What I could see there: a powerful energy message, morality, music, actors.
Stunning, energetically powerful, explosive, literally and figuratively, and at the same time sensual and passionate futuristic dystopia.
Literally from the first frames you understand that the evil here is petty, pathetic and quickly suppressed, like hooligans in a doorway. And then a mysterious hero appears, gracefully saving the main character. And then the incredible fireworks explosion accompanied by Tchaikovsky's divine music is wonderful.
The actors handled their roles brilliantly. Without Natalie Portman, the picture would have been different. Stephen Rea created the image of a smart detective in the service of a totalitarian government, perfectly showing an understanding of reality, even a kind of epiphany, a change of views. Not everyone can play a villain, but John Hurt did it. Perhaps the head of the security service, played by Tim Pigott-Smith, has more power here.
It's a good movie, you can't argue.
