An anti-war movie with the most direct desire to show its anti-orientation in the most honest way, where the war will not be the subject of ridicule or slander, but almost a retelling of his personal experience with positional battles, wounds, chemical weapons and misunderstanding in his native society, as Remarque himself wrote that, returning to Germany, he saw only a gloomy generation, and he also described the depressive situation from the point of view of his characters: "Our generation has been destroyed. We are just the surviving remnants of it."

The main film of 1930 will remain a symbol of the power of romanticism in various circles, where conscription becomes heroism and death an honor, and I must say that the best moment of this version of the film adaptation, unlike in 2022, is that it showed the moment of vacation after a year of service, where a crushed boy returns and is confronted with by misunderstanding, his doom makes him a coward in the eyes of the young, a traitor in the eyes of society, and his native teacher-agitator simply judges politics, turns away from those whom he charged with this hatred of the world.

A lot of work was done, it's a pity, the film is not German, there was a remark three or four years later that was banned and personal hostility from Hitler, which, of course, drew a new line where students burn books, where agitators call for the last fight, and the people exclaim with hatred for those who just think differently.

It gave me the creeps, all these explosions, camera penetrations through the trenches with unsociable guys, and in two hours the petrified gaze of the hero of the picture remained, and only the last moment with the butterfly finally finished me off, and I was covered with tears and felt that I had seen the legendary cinema moment. It's a pity that real cinema is a closed club with open doors, and the circles of madness close over and over again, and seemingly understandable truths become instantly incomprehensible, and the classics are cut off into the underground, where not enough people see it to change something.
