HBO has closed the sports drama «Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty»: the second season will be the final season for the project. This was confirmed by the creator of the show Max Borenstein, who emphasized that the authors wanted to end the series differently.
The premiere episode of the first chapter of the show was watched by 901 thousand people, and the finale has already attracted 1.6 million viewers. However, the second season debuted with 629 thousand viewers — probably such a drop in ratings influenced HBO's decision.
The project told the story of one of the most revered and dominant dynasties in sports — the Los Angeles Lakers of the 1980s. This team defined an entire era both on and off the court. With the arrival of Magic Johnson in 1979, the Lakers began playing a new style of play called Showtime, and the other teams in the league appeared to be unprepared for their speed and ferocity.
The series starred John C. Reilly, Jason Segel and Adrien Brody, and was co-produced by Adam McKay, director of "Don't Look Up"and "The Big Short".
