Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby in the second season of the series based on "The Last of Us"

Kaitlyn Dever, known for The "Booksmart" and the TV series "Unbelievable", has joined the cast of the TV series "The Last of Us". Deaver will play the role of Abby, one of the main characters in the second installment of "The Last of Us", on which the series is based.

Co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann talked about how the casting process went:

"Nothing matters more than talent, and we’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family".

"The Last of Us" is set 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization. In the story, smuggler Joel is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of a quarantine zone. What starts out as a dusty job soon turns into a difficult and heartbreaking journey, during which Joel and Ellie have to learn to trust each other.

Filming on the show's second season will begin in the first half of February, with a premiere date set for 2025.
