A classic leisurely modern British detective series, but only the location of the action has been transferred from the fictional English county of Midsomer to the almost opposite edge of the earth. This location freshness not only gives the series a slight exoticism, but also opens up the creators the opportunity to mercilessly beat the still unbroken local flavor, and provides the viewer with additional interesting characteristic realities, characters, all sorts of native details-features and, of course, views and panoramas. It is interesting, picturesque and informative.
In fact, it practically does not differ from the detective series of the metropolis - a calm, efficient, fussy and reasonable inspector uncovers intricate crimes with the help of his young, loyal and sympathetic staff and an outstanding criminologist (here the doctor has an additional exoticism - a Russian (played, probably, by a Serbian) woman with gloomy tales about life in Russia). There are also quite obvious quotes - a retro car and the zealous musical preferences of the main character. The obligatory inconsistencies in the script have also been inherited, and, in my opinion, they are more noticeable than in the original.
The intrigue in the plot is also present, it was shot and mounted normally, the casting is good, they play acceptably. A decent, sweet, average guy, looks easy and entertaining. I congratulate the New Zealand Studio on its success and wish you further success.
