The gift that life is waiting for us is growth, is change, is possibility that something good comes from pain. And when the crisis hits, when our world is upside down, when we are afraid, will we have the strength, the wisdom to embrace the gift that's there and welcome it with open arms?

It's a little strange, of course, that Samantha, being a doctor herself, hadn't noticed any concomitant signs of pregnancy for five months. And I realized that I was pregnant only when I saw my stomach)))))

I absolutely understand a mother who doesn't want a man in her family and a hippie grandson from him. Clearly an unequal marriage. Sam is a surgeon, Lenin is a janitor precisely because of his parents.

How much more comfortable women's life has become since 1969. But it still kills that they are not protected and treated like an incubator.

And, My ETERNAL comment: almost all TV series / movies/ books / news / statistics are just a red thread.: DON'T give birth! Protect yourself! So that unnecessary/unplanned/unloved children don't suffer later.

You don'T have to give birth hoping for a knock-up marriage or tie up a husband who is thinking about divorce.
And then some cohabitingly give birth to a second, fifth, and when the seventh is pregnant, the father of many children gets everything, leaves the family and marries another, also pregnant. And these seven people, even in an unregistered marriage, what do they think about all their lives? That the father didn't need them, that the mother gave birth for herself. I thought seven times with my uterus, I breathed it, as all sorts of bloggers and coaches, astrologers, tarologists teach now ... and other invented professions and specialties so as not to work.

I am against breeding thoughtlessly.
Conditionally, why do Vasya Pupkin need children?!
What legacy will he leave? Mortgage payments? It's good if it's not the debt of a micro-credit organization and defective genes.
Let the noble Pupkin family die out rather than an unhappy unloved child become an unemployed drunk or a maniac because of the eternal quarrels of asshole parents who don't care about the child.

@Nadezhdat: Otherwise, they will give birth to patients, because both parents were drunk before conception, during and after, and then: We will help the whole world, send an SMS....
Protect yourself!
If the doctor says that there will be health problems - an abortion, and when the body recovers, give birth to a healthy one and enjoy the baby.
If a candidate for fatherhood is "well, that's...", you don't have to spoil the life of an unborn child.
Half of the population of the African continent, India, Pakistan and other overpopulated countries would also be better off not being born.
They have no means of contraception and basic knowledge.
As well as representatives of the former Soviet republics, who come to us in huge numbers.

Read about the refugees in Europe who sit down to make a pile in the middle of the square simply because in their native village it was possible to sit right under a palm tree and then wipe themselves with a banana leaf.
Or they rape European women simply because in their culture they allegedly asked for it themselves - they were wrapped from head to toe in a burqa, so that only one eye could see.

There was a correct program in China: One family– one child. The quality of the population has improved, and the remaining population has a higher level of education, medicine, and social services.

Earlier, when the agrarian system prevailed, children were needed as free labor, names were given to those who had already grown up, because child mortality was high.
In Russia, villages counted only men's heads, there were no women at all, because they would get married and go to another family.

Now, with a wide choice and the opportunity to choose suitable contraceptives, there is NO need to breed future unhappy people or means of manipulation during divorce.

Well, Sam is not 17, like mom, who got pregnant at school, but 30. Although I wouldn't want a grandson from Lenin either.

Erica's patients heal very quickly, one conversation and it's over. A couple of phrases were enough for Adam to change his mind on a fundamental issue. In the first three seasons, issues were solved more naturally, rather than by magic.

It's very strange that Sam's pregnancy was presented in the series as an analogy to Barbara's pregnancy. Sam is an adult woman with an education and a job, she will be able to take care of the child, even if the unstable and unemployed hippie dad leaves for the Brazilian sunset (or wherever he wanted to go). By the way, it really pisses me off that their relationship is being romanticized and there's nothing wrong with them being completely different. Just love is not enough to build a family and strong long-term relationships. It is very childish to think that if they are doing well at the stage of the candy-bouquet period, after the birth of the child, which imposes a huge responsibility on both, everything will remain as cloudless.

@farberry: And besides, Sam hasn't been 17 for a long time. Her decision.
I liked the series finale. I even shed a tear. I can't imagine how Barbara felt her whole life. Carrying a child and then giving it away is very difficult. And keeping it a secret for so many years is a nightmare. It is clear that she was afraid to meet her son. It's good that an adequate man has grown up. I said it right: where would she raise a child at the age of 17? He was lucky, he was adopted by good people and his life turned out well. And the decision of Barbara's parents, in my opinion, is also the right one - giving up the child is better than having an abortion. Because abortions still have consequences, and even in those days....
