I looked at it. A lot of details are sewn with white threads. Let's have a journalist (without a camera, a dictaphone, anything else), a photographer, a girl (for some reason they once said that she was married. 0 instructions on how to take pictures safely) and a man who can't run fast will hit the road. The film does not reveal the personal stories of gg, how they ended up in this car. I counted 3 scenes that represent the past world, without uprisings. Everything else is offensive and shots fired. The pattern is the hero's path. You can guess when your friends will part ways.
@wolfork15: ///Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons, a man in pink glasses, turns out to be a family.///
And for the role of Hitler, that is, the supreme scoundrel, that is, the president of the United States, they took a man - meme Nick Offerman / Nick Offerman.
@wolfork15: another actor was supposed to star, but at the last moment he refused. Garland was puzzling over who to take on the role, Kirsten called her husband and he agreed. Garland approved him for the role immediately, without trial and negotiation.
It's A MOVIE. I am very impressed. Great, just everything! The trailer seemed to promise a road movie, in the style of Lost of us maybe, but this is a strong military drama about photojournalists. There is no black, there is no white, it 's just a very sad story (for me, this is a case when expectations were MUCH lower . Moments with clover, a moment in the dress shop just broke my heart.
I liked the movie, especially if you expect a drama, not a blockbuster action movie 🙂 Of course, there are moments with dummies, but in general it turned out very well. P.S. the actions in the film were very reminiscent of the events in Libya. It's a pity that they didn't show the prerequisites for all this.
Jesse Plemons (red-haired military man), who played Todd in Breaking Bad and then played 5+. What is characteristic is that there, that here manages to win back the ghouls my respect.
@Grimnir: The funny thing is that he was called a week before filming, because the original actor merged, and Kirsten Dunst proposed her husband. Perfectly plays deadpan psychopaths
The movie is great! I was especially impressed by the loud scenes in contrast with NO SOUND at ALL, the scenes with shots deliberately without music. The shots sound like in real life, very sharp and unexpected.
A weak movie. A five-minute event takes place, and the characters reflect for 20 minutes. There are practically no horrors of civil war and desecration. The whole movie is an action movie, and at the end there is a clowning with the capture of the White House, and a uniform circus inside it. I understand that all the behavior of journalists during shootings is hyperbole, but it looks stupid. All in all, one decent scene is the titular one from the trailer, with Jesse Plemons. I'm disappointed
P.S. The mood reminded me of a Human Child, only it is a few heads taller.
@Nobby_Nobbs: I didn't notice. You could blame the young actress, but everything is fine there too. She was prepared, and the director worked with her, and during the shooting scenes too. What can be the criterion of correctness in the image of a journalist during a combat scene? What is the canon in this case? Look at the work of Barry Pepper in We Were Soldiers (2002). Is it natural?
@FullThrottle: It's about getting in the way of soldiers. Right inside the squad during the firefights. This is a risk to the life of a soldier, filled with an untrained person and taps. Once they would have made a remark, they would have sent the butt to bed the second time
Barry Pepper was normal in We were soldiers, especially when he took up arms)). A movie dedicated to military journalists, I would recommend "Salvador" Oliver Stone
Alexander Garland stands for director and screenwriter in the film. To be honest, all the films that I've seen from him as a director, I didn't really like. But the script for "28 days later" turned out great, as did the film itself. However, I rather liked this "road adventure" than not. Kirsten Dunst played well, and the rest of their four looked very impressive. Jesse Plemons, who played an unnamed military man, performed stunningly in general. Definitely the strongest scene in the movie. But the ending with the storming of the White House did not come to me.. Yes, the symbolism is clear there, but somehow banal, for my taste. And I don't understand why the localizers didn't like the original name "Civil War" - "Civil War"? Even if "The Fall of the Empire" is also quite in the box office, but why these unnecessary refinements with paraphrasing of the original titles, what are they for?! I will not recommend it, perhaps not everyone will come in, but as for me, the film is definitely good, although not without flaws. You can watch it.
An excellent film about the fate and work of journalists of hot spots wrapped in the cover of the American Civil War. I expected a slightly different plot, but I liked this one even more, it's a pity only the ending leaves a bitter aftertaste, but that's life
a very cool movie. He came in really well. everything is cinematic and spectacular.the causes of the conflict and the beginning of everything that is happening are not particularly disclosed, but this does not particularly interfere. Otherwise, this is an excellent road movie showing the events of the civil war in the country. Well, as we wrote above, Dunst is good here.
A very powerful scene is a self-detonation with a flag. This is the most impressive moment I've seen in a while. The film is powerful, now in my Top films about the war, and the best about journalists (after the role of Barry Pepper in We Were Soldiers, of course. ...The Southerners are going to capture Washington. (!) This has already happened, but... Together with the descendants of the planters, California is now the most liberal land in the country. ...The current agenda dictates the inclusion of the racial diversity option. It is there. And the options for gender diversity (fortunately, there is none). ...The number of explosions inside the city limits and near historical monuments is unthinkable, very plausible. A movie that is definitely worth watching on the big screen. The sound engineer is on fire here. And the film itself is very strong, definitely one of the best films of the year
I would even say that this is a Stringer on steroids, who was crossed with the Lord of the Storm.;
I thought that the creators were inspired by our recent "First Oscar" in terms of ideas. Indeed, we do not see here why the war began, how it proceeded.. they only show the mission of journalists. The attitude towards the profession is ambiguous. Trying it on myself, I can say that I definitely could not just take pictures of how a person burns. The first reaction would be to run over and help put it out. The fact that a person (even a professional) just takes pictures at this time and does nothing, for me, is akin to how someone stands aside, filming a fight between schoolchildren or bullying a kitten, then puts it online. Colleagues with whom they watched the film together believe that this profession is still needed in order for the photos to resonate in society.. but as for me, it would be better to use other methods. A competent, almost meditative soundtrack smooths out the not always pleasant visual. Although there were also half a dozen (or even a dozen) really beautiful shots.

Now live with this knowledge. ;-)
