Here I am probably a nit, as the main character, but I don't understand at all what his fault was. Did his friends expect him to jump on the knife too? And then why did you hide like a coward, why didn't you scatter armed robbers like Rambo? Yeah, fucking great. It would be fucked up if instead of one memorial, you built two at once. They also shamed him. Such friends for a dick and to the museum, as they say.
And the dead fucker is solely to blame for his own death. Didn't have time to hide? Well ok. Turn out your pockets and give everything you have. But to get into the prick because of the wedding ring... Fuck, you'll buy something else. But you can't buy a second life. If there is a robber with a machete in front of you, you will even take off the last panties, not like a ring. He died because of his own stupidity, and gg was tormented by guilt because of this degenerate
It's very unclear.
First of all, there was no fifth friend in the book. Accordingly, the conflict was different.
The second is that the main character was saved by three Norwegian Satanists with an incomprehensible grandmother. They even tried to reveal them in the book.
And there are reasons for the ritual too.
The third difference. Do you remember how gg set fire to some strange dolls (?) in the house? So the book tells you who it is.
There are still minor discrepancies, in general, if you do not read the book, some positive impressions may remain from the film. And so ... It seems like it could have been done better.
And what should be the reasons for the ritual? Jotun needs followers, and GG is a coward who hid while his friend was dying. It is perfect for serving the offspring of the god of deceit and deceit. What other reasons are needed?
The main themes and meanings of the film:
Guilt and Redemption: One of the main characters, played by Rafe Spall, is going through a deep internal conflict due to guilt for not helping his friend when he was killed by robbers in a store. This event haunts him, and the hike becomes a way for him to try to redeem himself.
Mythology and Folklore: The film immerses viewers in the mythology and folklore of Scandinavia, showing ancient legends and creatures that live in the forests. This adds depth and an atmosphere of horror, making the film more memorable.
Suspense and Suspense: Director David Bruckner skillfully creates tension and suspense, which is typical of his previous works. He demonstrates how fear can grow gradually, using the majestic landscapes of endless forests and mountains.
Predictability of the plot: Although the film received mixed reviews, many critics noted that the plot contains many hackneyed cliches reminiscent of films such as The Blair Witch. Nevertheless, the film stands out for its elaborate characters and visual component.
Thus, the 2017 “Ritual” is a combination of horror, thriller and detective, with an emphasis on the inner experiences of the characters and the atmosphere of Scandinavian legends.
I didn't want to go hiking anymore :)
I'll start with the fact that for the first 40 minutes nothing happens at all — just some men wandering through the woods and talking about all sorts of nonsense. Well, yes, the scenery is beautiful, but I came to watch the horrors, not a documentary about the nature of Sweden!
The actors play so-so, especially infuriating is this main character with his eternal drama about a dead friend. Well, how much can you talk about this topic? Already in the middle of the movie, I just want to shout: "That's enough already!"
And now about the most important thing — about the horrors. Where are they anyway? The monster appears for a couple of minutes at most, and then in the dark, you can't see anything. All these "scary" moments can be predicted from a kilometer away. And this eternal theme with the division of the company — well, how long can you exploit this hackneyed plot?
The ending actually killed me! It feels like the director himself didn't know how to finish the film. Some kind of ridiculous ending with an incomprehensible moral. And what was it with this creature at the end? Let the main character go just like that? Seriously?
The only thing that can be given a plus is camerawork with landscapes. But it definitely wasn't worth spending 90 minutes of your life for.
In general, I don't recommend wasting time. If you want to watch a normal horror movie, pass it by. It's just boring stuff with a claim to deep meaning. 2 out of 10, and that's just for the beautiful views of the forest.
P.S. And yes, I still don't understand why it was necessary to make such a long film out of what could have been packed in half an hour.
I am silent about the illogic of characters in horror films, this is already such a base that there is nothing to say.
In my opinion, this film has a very high rating.
The men spent an hour fucking around in the woods and getting offended like little kids while they were figuring things out
As a result, not a single hero was really revealed, except for gg, and then one thought, "well, you're a coward, bro,"
Then a cult appears for the last half hour... Wow, so our hero turns out to be the chosen one and, so to speak, "marked"
Again, no answers, not even hints, think for yourself
The cultists had been worshipping the forest fucker for years in exchange for longevity, and then they dragged in a lost traveler who turned this village upside down in one night, and the cultists got it too)) Offhand, they thought, "Fuck we let him live."
The movie wasn't worth the wait at all, from the category where you sit with friends and comment, "Stay out, you moron."
