Overview
When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

And I still go and watch) one of my favorites since childhood!!!
It turns out that there will be no sad sisters, but the cute brother and sister - relatives of the innocently murdered Randy - remained.
The cast is also full of oldies - the constant favorite Courteney Cox (#gaylee), Neve is returning, and Scott Foley and Laurie Metcalfe.
In general, I think it will be good.
but otherwise, it's still a great meat slasher. and it justifies its rating in terms of cruelty, atmosphere and entertainment. I had enough of the vividly bloody scenes, and at the same time they were well staged. It's a thrill on the big screen. ๐
Plus, the film plays very much on the edge of nostalgia of the original parts, taking the best out of there and adding some new features to it all. definitely a mastwatch.
There are also some drawbacks, in particular the weak disclosure of the two assassins under the mask of a Ghostly Face. This time, before the exposure, they had almost no screen time, and their motivation was poorly spelled out. I was also surprised that almost the main rising star of Hollywood, McKenna Grace, got such a minor role and was cut out of the plot so quickly (and very harshly), it seemed that she could even become the new star of the franchise. But in general, the film has more advantages. It looks very cheerful. I am sure that Scream 7 will pay off its budget of $ 45 million with a mountain and there will be a sequel, the series is not even close to obsolete.
Personally, I didn't have enough teenage parties, theories about who the killer was and the motivation of the killer, of course, for a single one.
Spoiler alert! It was creepy to feel in this movie that the maniac might not be the one you know, but in general, basically any psycho. This is no longer just a murderer, but a masked maniac. It smells like Jason.
And yes, no matter how much they try to introduce the "new" Sydney Prescott, they won't succeed. Neve Campbell is gorgeous in this role!
Thanks for the movie! I liked it!
"It's pure nostalgia!"
I was really waiting for Stu's card to finally be played, and it turned out well, I really doubted for half the movie sometimes, but suddenly... ( Lillard๐ค )
A decent part, in my opinion, is even slightly more advantageous than the previous two. After all, Sydney is the main calling card of the franchise, with the presence of Neve Campbell, you can feel that very favorite atmosphere ~
the new gf was poorly revealed and there were few of them on the screen as ordinary characters, there wasn't even a thought to think about them, I thought the McKenna character would be or the Sydney fanatic guy, but alas
, there were very few Gail and the twins, and it was a pity that there were no mentions of the Carpenter sisters from them
in general, The beautiful part came out, the duet of a mother and daughter who also has such a beautiful name, Tatum, is just perfect
. I will review this part more than once.
Scream 7 seemed boring to me, and it's not surprising, because initially the scriptwriters wanted to continue the story of Sam, Bill's daughter, drawing a parallel between her and her father, making her a murderer, but the actress was suspended from filming because of questionable statements. It would be much more lively and interesting than what came out in the new part... It's a very average movie.
With Stewie, the devils almost caught me, at some point I believed that he was really alive.
In addition to the absence of sisters, whose story has not been brought to something interesting, new characters have played a plus. They wanted to empathize.
I'm a little sorry for Gail, but Dewey really affected her. But she's still a fire)
Against this background, the personalities of the maniacs have faded, but that's okay.
It's a good movie.
and the doctor made his way as far as possible, although it's usually very rare to guess who the killer
is, generally not bad, but there are a lot of conventions, however, as always)
I hope if they shoot a sequel, then they won't make my daughter the main character, the actress in general I didn't like any of the 5,6 sisters more, it's a pity, of course, that they were removed from the plot.
Of course, I'm a fan of Scream in general, but after the 5th and 6th films, there was a desire to quit the franchise altogether and never watch the sequel again, but now this desire has disappeared. Let's see what happens next... and then one hundred percent will be.
The masks were disappointing (in the middle of the film, I thought there would be 3-4 of them in total, because there were so many movements and murders (I was not mistaken)). A lot of unnecessary cruelty in my opinion. And it turns out that apart from Sydney's family and the old heroes, there is no one left alive... Sydney and Tatum's conflict has been sucked out of their fingers. Tatum, due to the fact that a teenager can and can be justified, but Sydney, after 6 (5) films, as if she already had to understand that you can't hide the past, run from it. And where did Gail go? Can someone explain to me why she didn't go/run after Sid? So then she also ran into her that she "dumped" her
Maybe it would be good as an independent movie, but it's not an independent movie, it's part of a franchise. There are references here, and even the moment before the final battle doesn't work without knowing the first parts.
P.S. Everyone liked something above, but I caught constant facepalms. Well
And I definitely liked it!
Yes, there are nuances, but nostalgia took out, I definitely enjoyed the movie, even though it's a typical slasher, a typical plot))
Everyone was under suspicion, I already believed that Stu was alive, but it wasn't bad in principle, I liked it.
This time there were completely different killers, not close to Cindy and her daughter, the motive is of course weak, as if they had just been sucked out of the finger.
But I'm a Sydney and Tatum duo in general, gorgeous, the daughter of course can also be understood, but she understood why her mother was so protective of her...
I don't remember Anna Camp ever having a similar role, it's cool, but compared to all the screams, her character is the dumbest and most illogical guestface. And that's why they called Matthew Lillard...
It was even funny in places.
It was nice to see a lot of references to the first parts. It's such nostalgia! I'm as strong as a boa constrictor.
It seems to me that there will be an 8th part, either about passing the baton to Tatum's daughter or Stu really returned.
I'm with those who consider Scream to be one of the most stable or at least very slowly and smoothly fading franchises). And among the horror films, you can count on your fingers those that have exceeded half a dozen films and remained in the top category. It's a good movie, even if I regret the gap with the scenes from the previous parts. Well, yes, that McKenna Grace only lasted a few minutes on the screen, I thought she was fit for the eighth time).
decided to watch it on the fan, the whole series of "Scream" has such a vibe, like "horrors", but still movies are entertainment. and the bad thing is that the references to the first parts, but how do I remember what I watched more than 20 years ago?)) plus, my head is still confused with "A very scary movie", but it's good that it's clear from the context what happened in the first parts
in general, I don't regret that I watched it) Which means you need to watch the previous two parts as well.
I didn't expect Sydney to prepare her children in any way. It's not even believable! They try to kill you every few years, you have a bunch of weapons in all the safes that you have, you have a panic room that you somehow made in secret from the children, but you never took your daughter to self-defense courses? Didn't even teach you how to shoot? It's kind of weird
Did it seem to me that the killer's costume was shining on stage? What kind of glamour is this?
Very few twins were shown! They're so cute! And there was almost no theory about the identity of the killer! A purely classic "this is your boyfriend!"
I don't understand the idea of giving children other people's names so that they can be associated with dead relatives/friends all their lives. Why not give a new person a new name?
And the killers were weak, of course. Especially the first one, the guy on the left. The motif of the neighbor is simply sucked out of the finger. Almost immediately, she forgot what had happened there. They even killed her son, and she didn't care. Anyway, I didn't believe her at all. And there's also a doctor. It's also weird. In general, if Stu had appeared alive, I would have been more blown away. It would be a very strange turn, but it's still much more emotional than these two. I didn't even remember their names.
Well, the last thing that disappointed. It's a daughter. She's not impressive at all. If they planned to continue films with her (ala Sidney 2.0), then I do not even know if I will watch them. She doesn't pull at all. I hope it gets better over the years.
As it is, I really liked the movie. I think I'll review it until I learn it. Just like the rest of the parts ๐
Sometimes it's so cringe-worthy that you yell in your voice and it feels like you're watching a parody.
With the last of your strength, you somehow try to empathize with Sydney for the 100th time, but for the young ones, including your daughter, you get the maximum boost.
All that's left is to ride on nostalgia (((1(
Oh, and the shiny cloaks of the mask were hard to see, what was that? Who spilled glitter on the set?
There were shoals, but you don't pay much attention to them in the process. For example, the opening scene where a couple is killed in the original house seemed superfluous, because the next morning no one discussed the fire in the place where it all started, which is very strange.
Overall, the score is 5/5
If you try very hard, you can see him at a party in Scream 2.
In the seventh part, he implemented his idea in some way, but with some reservations :)
I've always liked "Scream" because the maniac was always there, actively involved in survival, and literally exposed himself. In the same film, there were some nounames behind the masks: two of them flashed in the frame only once, and the third, although she was close to Sydney, also appeared only a couple of times and did not really participate in the events.
I wanted to be genuinely surprised, or, as always happened, shout at the screen: "I knew it!". Past assassins evoked emotions, they were not faceless. It was always friends or family who were in the very center of events and appeared in the frame as often as the main character. And here, in the unmasking scene, I just blurted out indifferently: "I see." Perhaps the scriptwriters wanted to surprise the fans, but it turned out the opposite. Even if they hadn't strayed from the canon and made my daughter's boyfriend or another Sydney fan a murderer, I would have gotten a lot more drive.
My daughter also cheered me up a little. Her mother screams at her, "Shoot her in the head!" and she waits for something and eventually gets caught. When there's a second chance to finish off the killer, she doesn't shoot him in the head again. Apparently, she's just like her father: instead of shooting at least in the leg or shoulder, he just runs into the enemy and, of course, only knocks him down, without causing any serious injuries that could stop him.
Otherwise, everything is on the same level: Sydney and Gail, as always, are admired, and the original soundtrack perfectly adds atmosphere. I was very happy to see Matthew Lillard and the other actors who played the ghost face in the previous installments. But I expected more, much more. The film turned out to be "without a soul" for me and did not touch me at all, unlike the previous two parts and even more so the original trilogy.
I will be waiting for the next part and hope that it will not disappoint.
I love the scream, the first 3 parts are fire,
I watched everything + the series.
But this is a bad gate, after 30 years, damn, dad decided to kick Sydney, ahahaha, and the neighbor didn't come up the sleeve because, what!!!?)
The murders are normal, but the story is complete nonsense, it would be better if Stu was resurrected!
The stupidity of the characters, the police, the storyline is amazing.
First of all, the police are examining the house, of course they are hammering into the attic, of course there will be a murderer there. After the attack, they inspect the house again, plus they stay around the house for surveillance, and lo and behold, the killer manages to remain unnoticed in the garage.
Deaths have become tougher, yes, but they're kind of pointless, kids die once or twice, you don't even have time to get attached or even understand what's going on. Charisma in teenagers is zero. The girl from the introduction aroused more interest and empathy than Sydney's daughter and her gray friends. They tried hard to show us that Sydney's daughter was her worthy replacement, but they only managed to shit themselves. Nothing. Stupid, uninteresting, charisma is zero, empathy and empathy for the Persian are completely absent. I won't say anything about murderers, of course, the motivation is so-so, and it's far-fetched. Very weak. I think it's the worst part of the franchise. Since I love Shouting and occasionally arrange a marathon for myself, I reviewed the new part in a circle before the release, and boldly declare: Part 7 - Fierce clash. Even a dubious 6 is better. To be honest, I'm blown away here with the positive comments and laudatory reviews, it's like we've watched different movies.
Sydney Prescott, who has repeatedly survived the attack of various maniacs hiding under the mask of a Ghostly face, has finally found peace in a quiet town. But even miles away from her native Woodsboro with a bad reputation, her measured life comes to an end when an old, unkind acquaintance appears with a knife who threatens her daughter.
Well, let's start with a good one. Despite all the difficulties and shoals of Spyglass Studio, the film was nevertheless released in a more or less acceptable condition and pleased those who had been waiting for Sidney's next full-fledged return in recent years. That's probably all that's good about it.
I am frankly sorry that Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett's trilogy about the Carpenter sisters did not take place for various reasons: greed, politics, and a combination of circumstances. The directors of the fifth and sixth parts themselves got tired of the franchise and returned to their projects completely ("I'm going to look for 2"), although they left their work and scriptwriters to the successor (who, by the way, gave out a recent excellent "Destination"). Melissa Barrera was suspended for her civic position and fired. Jenna Ortega supported her friend (not in political statements) and left the project after her, however, only to the delight of the producers, who did not really want to overpay her for stardom and were only looking for a reason to get rid of her. As, by the way, from Neve Campbell in the sixth part. Christopher Landon, who was appointed the new director, left the scene in complete disbelief. But we must pay tribute to the "effective" managers - this time they got out. Of course, at the expense of nostalgia. They reconciled with Neve Campbell, promising her the largest fee of her career. We called Kevin Williamson, the co-founder of the series, who wrote the scripts not only for the original "Scream" and its direct sequel, but also for one of the most powerful parts of the franchise - the fourth. And they offered him the director's chair along with the role of the screenwriter. Along the way, rumors began to spread that Matthew Lillard (now popular not only among old slasher fans, but also among young people thanks to "Five Nights with Freddie") would return to the role of Stu. My respect. Well, the fees show that the producers did everything right in a seemingly hopeless situation. I congratulate them on this, but not from the bottom of my heart. They can draw wrong conclusions. In a short time, Kevin Williamson was even able to stitch the old "new" heroes with white threads - without taking into account Barrera and Ortega, of course - to the old "old" heroes, without completely abandoning the legacy of his predecessors and followers at the same time.
However, along with the arrival of the old guard, came the reluctance to experiment. This is understandable - firstly, Williamson is already an old dog who cannot be taught new techniques. Therefore, keep returning from the hectic metropolis to the new Twin Peaks analogue, sorry, Woodsboro, and mirroring the plot of the first part (with the only difference being that the ending and the beginning have been reversed, haha, and now they are hunting more for Sydney's daughter than for Sydney herself). And it's as if, unlike previous attempts, Williamson doesn't have much to say. "Grandpa" is not angry enough. What should I mock? What's the satire about? He's thrilled to be a director again, for the first time since the movie "To Kill Mrs. Tingle," which, for a moment, is over 30 years old. Besides, what can a screenwriter, who once became a director on a wave of popularity, offer in terms of staging? Nothing new. But at least he didn't screw up anything. The film looks in one go, the murders are juicy (as if even pretentious by the standards of past "Screams"), the tension keeps and constantly builds up (a great opening scene in Stu's house!). But no more.
But the script, especially at the end, is disappointing. Let's start with the main thing! Mark, Sydney's husband, turns out to be the wrong Mark (Patrick Dempsey's schedule didn't match), but the other one, Joel McHale from The Community. Okay, Sydney had a thing for cop husbands, but having their names match was something of a deviant thing. In place of Mark 2 (Mark II, as Tony Stark would have called him - fury, ha!) I would have tensed up. He also behaves periodically like a Duffy from a parody "Very scary movie." Okay, this is a joke. But there are a lot of such moments when you ask questions.: โwhat? How? Why? Why?". And the phrase of the Ghost Face about the return of one of the characters: "But that's stupid!" I literally couldn't help myself and started talking to TV: "No, what you did is stupid. But the alternative option would not be such a bad move." The identity of the killer and his motivation were very disappointing. Repeatedly, haha.
Alas, it turned out to be a standard slasher, and not something more. I've reconsidered my attitude towards the triquel at the time and don't consider it an outright creative failure, but it's still been at the very bottom of my list. Well, now he went up higher, and there was a knock from below. The seventh "Scream" is the weakest part of the series. None of the topics were fully disclosed, although there was potential, constant logical inconsistencies, repetition of what had been done, an attempt at a reboot at a not very good time for the franchise. However, there is hope for the best. "The Scream" has gone through one of the most difficult moments, work on the eighth part is probably already underway and - who knows? - maybe even the Carpenter sisters will get a well-deserved ending in the end, which will be beautifully connected with Sydney's family.
rating: 3 neuroslopes out of 5
Of the advantages, except that the old characters (I love Sydney very much) and a relatively good detective story.
And so, just for once, I forgotโฆ
Courteney Cox๐
We can leave the legacy characters and at least change the concept, but no - let's inadvertently make the Scream barely distinguishable from a Very Scary Movie.
The plot is quite simple, the main killer is easy to figure out and practically does not reveal anything. An attempt to ride on nostalgia alone, well, that.
But the identity of the killers was disappointing, as were their motives...
from the first appearance of the blonde in the frame, it was clear that she was the one who was out for blood.
It would be better to make a triquel with the sisters. According to rumors, Barrera was supposed to go crazy with everything (plus bati's genes), kill Ortega and become the new guestface. The killer is fresh and original. Such a chance is gone
I've seen all the parts, but I think this one is crap. It feels like someone wanted to shoot something about the scream, but they didn't really come up with a plot...
finish this episode already. Really, don't spoil people's impression of the first three films. Stop sucking plots out of your fingers!
it's terrible when your favorite franchise is so disfigured..
I noticed that GG has a daughter in Halloween, that there is also a daughter in the Scream, at least someone would have given birth to a kid.
I was glad to see my favorite heroines, but the advantages end there.
