I decided to watch a film that I had heard a lot about as something unusual, as a classic of surrealism - this is the Andalusian Dog by Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali, shot in 1929. I was preparing for the fact that this would not be an ordinary movie, but, to be honest, I was completely confused and puzzled by what I saw on the screen.

This is a very short, black-and-white silent film, which is not at all like a traditional movie with a plot and characters in the usual sense. He seems to be a collection of disparate, sometimes very powerful and even shocking visual images. Watching it is like being immersed in someone's very strange, unpredictable and devoid of logic dream or even a nightmare.

Something inexplicable is constantly happening in the film, which completely contradicts common sense and the usual laws of reality. I've seen objects suddenly appear and disappear for no apparent reason. People change, find themselves in completely different places or situations without any transition. And that's what was completely incomprehensible to me while watching, and I kept wondering: why teleport there or just show guns that suddenly appear without any logic, then suddenly some new people come from somewhere, then those who were a second ago disappear somewhere, then suddenly some"those very strange objects that weren't there just now?"

I saw, for example, how a man suddenly reaches out and takes a gun, but where this gun came from in this place, why this particular gun, and what it is needed for in this scene was completely incomprehensible to me. Or a group of other people appear who seem to have nothing to do with the previous scene or the characters, and then they just disappear somewhere. Or some unusual objects are suddenly lying on the floor or someone is carrying them, although I did not see any reason for their appearance or presence. What for? What is the logic or meaning in this? It remained a complete mystery to me, I just watched these irrational appearances and disappearances, unable to understand their purpose.

In addition to these constantly changing things and people, there are other very strange, disturbing and sometimes even unpleasant images in the film, such as the famous and very violent scene with the eye, or ants crawling out of the hand, or people dragging strange heavy objects like pianos and dead donkeys. All this has a very strong visual effect on the viewer, but it is devoid of the usual semantic connection.

I realized that this movie is built according to the logic of a dream, where events happen for no reason, and images follow each other without any sequence. But even realizing that this is surrealism and that it imitates a dream, it was still difficult for me to accept this complete illogic and lack of cause-and-effect relationships, especially with the appearance and disappearance of all these things that I mentioned.

The film has no plot in the traditional sense. There is no beginning, development, climax, or ending to the characters' story. It's just a series of very vivid, but at the same time completely incomprehensible scenes, connected, it seems, only by a common sense of strangeness and anxiety.

Watching the Andalusian Dog is a completely unique cinematic experience. He doesn't entertain, he rather puzzles, sometimes even scares with his complete irrationality. Visually, it is very strong and memorable, but at the same time completely incomprehensible to logical perception. This is a movie that remains in the memory precisely because of its strangeness and constant questions like "what was that?"And why was it shown that way?".

In general, the Andalusian Dog is not a movie that I can understand or explain in terms of a conventional plot. It's more of an experience, a dive into someone else's subconscious, or a very strange dream. He left me with strong and disturbing images, but at the same time a complete misunderstanding of why and why what was happening there was happening, especially with the inexplicable appearance and disappearance of all these objects and people.
