the case is when the sequel is not only no worse, but in some ways even surpasses the original film. in particular, in the number of deaths (there were an unrealistically many of them at that time), and makeup - Tom Savini himself was responsible for it, for the sake of him alone it is worth watching this film.

If we draw parallels, then the first part can be compared with "Psycho", but the second, for example, with one of the seasons of "Very strange cases", where the kids are trapped in the shopping center in the same way. The plot frame has sunk significantly. There are a lot of inconsistencies and strange plot moves (learning how to fly a helicopter turns out to be like two fingers on asphalt, sorry). It's very stretched, sometimes comical and meme-like, partly thanks to the ridiculous makeup. Yes, the bluish, almost avatar-like faces and the blood, which is not naturally bright scarlet in color, are not that creepy, but rather bright and fun. Not a movie, but a kind of attraction. Given that the first part was completely black and white, the gap in the color palette generally does not work well and reduces the cost of the enormous work of the entire team. My subjective opinion is that they invested, got confused, scored a ton of extras (all the tricks and special effects without any computer graphics, you know), but they flew by with makeup artists and a screenwriter.

I liked the first part better. Although it's probably wrong to compare films with a 10-year release difference.
It was more fun than scary here in places. There are a lot of bloody disgusting scenes, absolutely masterfully chosen music and a perfectly shown mood of "what should we do if there is no point in doing anything anymore".
It's a funny and a little long-winded movie, but it has its own charm.
