Description
Mayor of Kingstown is set in a small Michigan town where the only industry remaining are federal, state, and private prisons, the story follows the McClusky family, the power brokers between the police, criminals, inmates, prison guards and politicians, in a city completely dependent on prisons and the prisoners they contain. It is a stark and brutal look at the business of incarceration.
My grandfather has nothing in his life except work, because a child with a disability and a wife who hates him are waiting for him at home (and this is mutual), naturally he plunged headlong into work, giving it a sacred meaning. For him, this is not just a fast, this is his purpose, why he lives. So he defended the meaning of his life to the very end. As for me, my grandfather is the coolest character in the whole series.
