Description
After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O'Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.
That is, yes, the plot of the film is as simple as possible, without frills, and the final boss fight is somehow too banal..
But visually it is a delight for my eyes. All these carelessness in everything, moo-ah! And what freaks all the people here are, wow! There's also a soundtrack that perfectly complements the scenes..
Good references to pop culture (although in places, it seems to be too much), and a couple of funny jokes (although toilet humor is too much)
P.S. I wanted pizza..
The disadvantages are the creepy drawing of people, awkward humor, a disgusting joke through the whole film with a milking machine, the overall dark and dirty visual style, just looks unpleasant.
Such a funny comic drawing, the plot is of course weak and stupid in my opinion, but let's see what happens in the second part, and as people have already written, the humor is of course complete nonsense, but that's why they are teenagers (I just remember myself at that age), well, about our dear April O'Neil, well, yes) it's in fashion now, sort of)
But then it all starts moving and... a miracle happens. In dynamics, all this turns out just gorgeous. Look, for example, at the battle scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Etbn-v32zI
And now try to stop it at any moment and you will see that it is in fact such a revived sketch art. It was as if someone had taken and animated the sketches. And it really looks very cool. And the whole movie was shot in such a drawing. It looks really fascinating.
So the plot. He's weird. It seems to have come to us from the 1990s, as a tribute to real turtles. Well, an evil villain, a superboss at the end, again a big corporation and little men at its foot. But on the other hand, these turtles have finally become like those teenagers. Not like in the most memetic cartoon of my childhood, where they were abstractly "starshaks". That is, someone without age, but already almost perfect. No, in 2023 they are insecure, their first fight comes as a surprise even to themselves, they feel their strength and dream of using it, they rebel, try to figure themselves out. And most importantly — they can be distinguished. Which of them is smart, who is impetuous, who is a joker — their character traits have appeared (yes, I know that this has been in many reinterpretations, but here it is, in my opinion, done best). In general, I liked it.
On the other hand, I was pleased again (as in Nimon) with the fat fat from the creators. It's so cool to look at people's reviews in the style: "an important story about not having to judge others by their appearance. But how could they make April a fat black woman, it's terrible!!!".
I still didn't understand for what place the turtles were milked if they don't have nipples in a children's cartoon)
The drawing was very striking at first, it seemed that the FPS of the picture was not enough, but then you get used to it and notice the highlights of the style. It is very beautiful and unusual, in fact, for eyes accustomed to glossy Disney graphics.
Yes, the humor and plot are childish, but in general it looks good
