And at the moment when my sister allegedly quickly approached the car, I even had 1 goosebumps in the inter-vision. 😁😁😁
I don't think it's scary or creepy (unlike my friends). And the main celik could be scarier (but I'm already finding fault with that).
But music and shooting - that's what you can praise for! Excellent visual, backed up by pleasant pumping music. Rush. I recommend it!
Moreover, it is already familiar that horror that would be scary almost does not exist , but horror that keep in tension more and the benefit is that this is one of these films . Almost from the fifth minute, he created the necessary voltage and held it for almost all these two hours .
Plus the acting game (the leading actress is well shizeet in the frame, especially in contrast to what she is ...usually in the first ten or fifteen minutes .)
Plus , you can see that they tried to shoot less sterile because the camera makes some unnecessary wiring, chooses angles and all that .
Plus, even jumpers are decent and solid , which is literally rare . Yes, and in general atmospheric .
And the fact that a movie like secondary is even funny ahaha
On this planet , most of the plots are secondary and it's not a bad thing, it's not a bad thing . The same trope can be shot so differently that two identical plots will evoke radically different feelings .
I, for example, have already seen dozens of films about another full family (optionally with some cute pet) moving to a dilapidated, cursed, old house , where the next ebaka for some reason tries to smoke and fuck everyone and even kill and nothing terrible , I still watch similar films over and over again :)
The fact that someone, do you see, saw a similar plot/idea/main fuck in some *it follows*, for example, well , at all, does not reduce the pleasure of watching the movie * Smile * 😼
A couple of years ago, Parker Finn, who had one short film behind him, shot another one, called "Laura did not sleep", and sent it to the festival (I attach it to the review, by the way). There, the Paramount studio noticed the project, allocated a budget for a full meter and ordered Finn to call the creation a Smile. Initially, the plan was to launch the film immediately on the streaming service, but the audience from the test screenings were quite complacent, the Paramounts smelled the money and launched the picture into wide distribution. Actually, the comrades did not lose. The film turned out to have a decent sundress, "Smile " has paid off many times and will probably get more than one sequel, bringing Finn to the top league, as, for example, "Saw" launched James Wan's career into the stratosphere. So what's the matter? Is everything really that good? Well... Yes and no.
"Smile", on the one hand, is an absolute film directed by a novice, whose viewing experience is at the level of the average viewer. The local plot, the twists in the script, the ending will not surprise anyone. Finn clearly grew up on the "Call ", and an American remake, and in the tenth years he encountered an almost art-house magnificent horror movie "It " (not King's, but the one in the original "It Follows ") and clearly did not miss the young horror story "Truth or Action ".
From the first two, he took the concept and rules of the curse walking from one medium to another, as well as the oppressive atmosphere, the feeling of an inevitable ending and the structure (I didn't even have enough credits " Day One " or there "Tuesday" - to quote so to the end). From the latter - a lure in the form of an intimidating physiognomy of the pursuing entity.
On the other hand, the director was clearly under vigilant producer control. Yes, the film will not surprise, but it is made very qualitatively. The picture is beautiful, it scares great. To be honest, it's been a long time since I've flinched at horror movies, but there have been several times. One scene almost made me jump thanks to a very successful find. That is, despite the fact that you literally know what will happen in the next scene, the mechanism is working properly. Add the absence of subpoenas, a story without unnecessary complications, the opportunity to develop the series in the future (which means to fantasize undisclosed details now), decent acting, a high level of production - and here's a hit for those tired of overly pretentious (hi Jordan Peele), or excessively stupid horror.
I don't even rule out the possibility of re-viewing Smiles, and this is a rarity in the current realities of a total decline in the quality of the film industry. However, it is frankly a pity that the director did not leave more unsaid, from the very beginning excluding the option of some more realistic explanation of what is happening (the actors played smiles without computer graphics). Pure-blooded mysticism obviously collects more money. However, as they say, it will do.
Rating: 7 "say chiiiz" out of 10
However, all these " are not worth it " as a result, they turn into a very strong, high-quality, successful product that can hook and not let go until the very end.
But so very good horror
