Traditionally, the editorial staff of the NST TV channel analyzed key resources, box office receipts, critics' and viewers' evaluations to compile a list of the ten best horror films of the outgoing year. We tell you about the top seven.
Moral: children spoil everything.
Actually, the title was born to me in the very first second when I saw the two main characters: the farmer brothers. One of them even has antics like a collective image of several alter egos of Lapenko. However, jokes aside. The brothers hear gunshots at night near their farm, decide in the morning to check what and how, and find a dismembered corpse of a stranger with incomprehensible astrolabes and other gadgets on the territory of a neighbor, a la I'm a stargazer at my mother's. Word for word - and now self-taught detectives are standing on the threshold of the house of a demon-possessed man (the peasant shows with all his appearance that he ran straight from the movie Seven, although Fincher's guilty of gluttony looked somehow more convincing more than a quarter of a century ago). A little later, they are joined by the actual owner of the farm, who decides to get rid of the rotten one, as it is called in the local translation, and inclines the brothers to this. The problem is that the possessed cannot be killed (at least with a firearm). Or rather, it is possible, but then the evil will instantly break out. Therefore, you need to come up with something more original. The degenerate brothers and their half-witted neighbor turn on their imagination and decide to throw the dude into the gutter without any fuss. Well, in general, they threw on the fan, so to speak, demonic rot from the heart and will rake out the consequences until the final credits.

There are literally clear seven rules in the film, which 90% of the characters know about, and in this universe, no one denies the presence of evil and the risk of infecting an entire city. But all the same, everyone who knows about the basic principles of safety violates the law and suffers from their own actions. Firstly, I did not understand why the police were here, logically there should be disinfectants, in order to avoid curses and contact between healthy and sick people. Also, the main character is unrealistically fumbling for everything, but for some reason he resorts to his children dressed in clothes, instead of buying a new skin in advance, and even if he ran into the house naked, there would still be no less scandal, as he was during the exposure right in front of everyone. In short, the thing is for the night: in the film, the characters are clearly stupid, everyone knows the commandments, but like real hooligans, they continue to play along with Satan.
🪓 If we discard the simplified plot, where the task is entirely to promote aggravation, then otherwise I liked it, the atmosphere was able to last until the last minutes, all these appearances of evil in the shadows impress me, and the invented universe itself would be suitable for a cool series. The film is definitely not boring to watch, and the dynamics are clearly combined with stupidity, that even you begin to empathize with these village fools again, probably good acting performances with competent direction still play on these emotions.
