Фильм на 100% состоит из различных отсылок и фансервиса, с весьма слабым и избитым сюжетом, пересматривать такое будешь крайне редко.

@deeppines: I review it often, because the film is quite funny and well written. And the fact that it is stuffed with a fanservice, well, I'm sorry, when it was filmed, they wrote about it directly, because the plot is built on this.

There is practically nothing in common with the book... Apart from it, it's not bad, but I looked at it almost immediately after reading it and it didn't go well for me. Of course, I understand the difficulties of adaptation, but I did not expect such a strong reworking of the plot.

Interesting plot, excellent graphics, I liked the thoughtfulness of the world and the interaction of characters. The movie is worth watching. Although I'm not a fan of science fiction or action movies, but the scenes of battles and chases were shot perfectly and it was interesting to watch, there was no desire to pause, the film did not make you bored.

I was writing a review at the time of the film's release, so some moments may be outdated.

The new Spielberg film does not differ much in terms of plot from your standard representative of a fake fiction, when a young man or a young lady, the embodiment of the nerdy dreams of a writer / writer, saves humanity from all sorts of totalitarian regimes and villainous corporations, but damn it, what a nuance here! "The first player to get ready" is a fantastic movie in every sense. This is a love confession to an entire epoch - the strange, sometimes funny, stupid and naive, but delightful eighties. And who better than Steven Spielberg, one of those mastodons who shaped the pop culture and film landscape of that decade, to delight from the bottom of his heart. In terms of the number of references to literature, books, music, and films, the First Player is one of the most ambitious and intense works. If you found Easter eggs with a stupid smile in Scott Pilgrim or Ralph, then you will naturally go crazy with delight if your useless cultural baggage allows you to identify all the winks of the authors. Well, if you just love high-quality movies, then you shouldn't pass by either - the brilliant trio of director Steven Spielberg, cinematographer Janusz Kaminski and composer Alan Silvestri will give you a kind and spectacular film with a gorgeous picture and the very music that will send goosebumps down your body. Spielberg is a master after all.

@id440426744: That's how it came out exactly five years ago. However, it did not become a hit. I didn't collect much in the USA, but worldwide collections brought in exactly as much as the film had enough to recapture the invested funds.

@Bairum: I just looked at the date and realized that my, 2018 was 5!!! years ago. I meant, in a year like 2012, it would definitely be a hit, even with lower quality graphics. And now, even with such films, few people will be surprised.

Steven Spielberg created some kind of banality, extremely cliched and mediocre. A carbon copy of all Marvel movies. Also, the actor playing gg is very annoying. At first, after reading the book, which I really liked, I expected something completely different from the film. The book turned out to be a real biography of the 80s, because it was Holliday's childhood, but in the film they decided to simplify everything and made the film a dummy for one viewing. Especially the chase in the trailer, invented for the film, is depressing. It sucks, read the book better.

Still, after reading the novel and reviewing it, the film feels very different. Against the background of the book, he definitely does not stand up to any criticism. The world is not revealed, the characters are mostly cardboard, not to mention the fanservice and a ton of Easter egg references. On the other hand, it is beautifully shot, mounted, and the universe of the original looks great on the screen.
But you shouldn't expect anything else from the film. This is primarily a pleasant adventure film for the evening, without pretensions to any depth.
Because the novel itself, it seems to me, does not carry anything outstanding in itself. Maybe the world is better revealed there, the characters are alive, and the concept itself is interesting, but it's worth thinking about the rules of that universe for more than five minutes and immediately there are a lot of questions about its existence, and the notorious fanservice is frankly annoying.
In general, I do not understand the admiration for the original novel, I received practically no emotions from reading it. Well, the film brightened up the evening well, both on first viewing and on repeat.
