how so.... It's strange to see them all in human form.....

and the ending is just jaw-dropping, I really liked it, even though it's open (although in fact everything is clear and the lines in the plot got their logical end), but maybe it's even better this way.

It all came down to the fact that Odakawa had a disease ,
as a protective mechanism for seeing animals instead of humans. Interesting plot! He was like a jigsaw puzzle from the first to the last episode.

This show may turn out to be a sleeper hit this season.

Before watching, based on a brief description and a couple of pictures, I assumed that this was a gag comedy in a Beastars setting, but the first episode showed that the series is something much deeper.

In twenty minutes, we threw in a few hooks in the spirit of good detectives - it's interesting to learn about the mystery of the missing girl, and about the connections of the characters in the series, and about who our main character is. And there's also a bold hint of psychological drama in further episodes.

At the same time, the seriousness of the story contrasts with the cheerful, not serious style of the picture - I repeat, based solely on the screenshots, I thought it would be a gag comedy. The last time I saw such a dissonance of image and history was in Made in Abyss, which I initially mistook for a cartoon for the youngest and did not watch, only realizing on episode 8 or 9. Fortunately, I did not repeat this mistake with Odd Taxi.

And I also want to mention the production and the dialogues - two thirds of the first episode could have been shot frame-by-frame with people for some movie by the Coen brothers.

The series is simply fantastic! Definitely the best for me this season. The sound, the seiyu, the script, the direction - I really liked everything, and the shots with the flying car were amazing (there are awesome parallels with splashing water among most of the characters). They wrapped all the lines perfectly: about Odokawa's absolutely terrible past (and I wanted to hug the child), and about the kitty in the house, and about Tanaka, and about the policeman brothers, etc. Sakura turned out to be Mitsuya's killer, it's interesting that judging by the conversation, mom might be aware of her murderous plans, and then the creators just took her and put her in Odokawa's taxi, which even sent a chill down my spine, wow! Apparently, he didn't have time to tell the police that he was picking Sakura up that day, and didn't recognize her? Please give me at least an OVA!.. Or don't let me, such an open end also brought great pleasure.
A very cool detail: throughout the series, the lines (especially the background) in the frame were a little blurred, but as soon as Odokawa woke up and began to see people in their human form, the lines became very clear - no more fog in his head.

I'm glad that Shirakawa seems to be really sincere in her feelings. Cool dialogues with the manager and Dobu in the taxi. Tanaka scares with the thoughtfulness of Odokawa's future murder, she thought that he would want to solve everything faster. The scene in the restaurant is simply unbearable, as Diana desperately digs a deeper hole for herself.
