the film is very mysterious and the director here just did his job very well.
I really liked the way her visions were presented. Given that she is under stress and almost does not sleep, she still had no time to understand what is happening to her memory, just not understanding what kind of visions. the fat hint was the words: I understand why my husband left me. That's cool. Well, the climax with the minister from China is just great. Super. I think everyone will like Sai fi lovers.

@uaSolare: I didn't like this climax the most: in the future you will be told such and such words in order to save the world in the present. It's too confusing. And so the movie is good

@Gevorg: well, everyone has their own feelings.
As for me, at that moment she understood, realized and accepted these visions, they formed into some kind of picture and it was clear that she needed to act. Plot-wise, this is a cool move with a lot of subtexts. She was no longer in such a state of confusion as after contact with the aliens, when she already seemed to understand what was what, but she was not yet able to accept it.

That's how I saw it

Everything was fine, interesting, I couldn't tear myself away... until the finale happened. Where is the conflict resolution? Where is some kind of outcome? Why is it so incoherent? It ruined the whole experience, and that's despite the fact that I'm a huge fan of Jeremy Renner.

A wonderful film from a wonderful director. Denis Villeneuve is a master of making an addictive movie that does not let go until the last minutes. The story itself is original from beginning to end. Although, perhaps some people will guess up to some points themselves, but this is not a bad thing! If the story is not impressive, then in any case you will be pleased with the visual style accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack. And this is not another action movie about an alien invasion, but on the contrary - a semantic film that raises many issues, for example, the attitude of people to each other and the need to work together, despite some differences.

I was very impressed. There is a subtext everywhere and it is difficult to watch, but when the ending comes, it becomes clear that all events with it are the future. I really wanted to have a Happy ending with Yong, and the events about my daughter's illness are the past. But, unfortunately, all this is the future of the years. I'm prostrated, it makes you think and showed a very cool love line and excellent acting, in general, one of the best Sci-Fi, I recommend it from the bottom of my heart!

I'm watching it for the second time, so I'll note and comment on key plot twists at the first hints, not by their disclosure.

Let's see if my opinion of the end will change, more precisely than how the Chinese conflict was settled…
Oh, yes-this music is out of here!
When you look the second time and as a result it starts to look the second way... for example-"I hate you" – a common conflict of children and parents она did she find out the truth? The truth that even her husband didn't know about and then left her...
American law enforcement logic-you are the best linguist in the United States with a valid secret clearance, so in a couple of seconds you must translate a language that is not even terrestrial, and even consists not of pronounced words, but of voices, like in marine animals 🤣
I wanted to say, "she probably needs им more than they need her, so let her say 'Good riddance'," but she chose a clever and clever way их to convince 🤣 though it's unclear how the Colonel found out that she was right…
At first I thought that she was dreaming of a conflict, a shootout between visitors and the military, and it turns out to be just a turntable flew for her 😅
And here's Hawkeye's eye 😁
There is an unproven opinion that octopuses are an extraterrestrial species, that they did not occur on earth, that their DNA is not terrestrial. And here is a film about extraterrestrials-"squid" 😅
A regular Google search revealed that the story of a kangaroo is actually a myth. In fact, the word comes from Ganjurru (kankurru), which means "black kangaroo"
"A more developed species or almost destroyed" - which is true not only for Australia, but also for the United States itself 😅
And the colonel is good. He is not a typical soldier, but a person who understands what is at stake and tries to honestly understand scientists and their approach in order to be able to present it to soldiers and politicians/populist politicians/war-loving politicians (warmonger).
But it's an interesting idea. You think that she remembers her dead daughter, but in fact, as soon as she began to understand their language, she began to see time as non-linear, to see the future as we see the past…
The military were looking at each other so strangely... won't they go closer to the end of the movie to detonate a bomb?
Why Pakistan and not India or Nepal?
Why does everyone always say " I "even if it's more correct than"me"? You and I – You and me
Does society know exactly how the government resolves the issue? Or do they keep the information a secret from the people, and therefore worry? For example, activists around the world – do they know that no exhaust gases or radiation are coming out of ships? Do people know that some translator is busy establishing communication and decoding their language? That is, something is being done besides the fact that the police and the military have seized the place.
Of course, the panic is spread by weapons-anyone who is not allowed to buy new weapons 😅
This fear of the human race before the unknown, the willingness to immediately perceive the best scenario, to succumb in emotion instead of logical reasoning…
Hawkeye gone before her daughter died? Found out the truth and couldn't live with her, knowing what was coming?
Oh come on-even under the USSR, a straight line was created between Washington and Moscow. There are ambassadors and diplomats around the world – you can inform them to try to get in touch with the government of the host party or to inform the desire of the US leader to arrange a simultaneous conversation with all 12 of them and all because politicians and the military decided not to listen to scientists…
And now came the moment that at the first viewing I realized, just such an explanation I did not like 😅
Well, this emotional ending, which is sure to cause a lot of controversy about her correctness - when she still decided to have a child, even though she knew that she was waiting for them...

It was beautifully shot , but I would like more explanations .
Why did they come to say that you will help us in 3 thousand years , and what did you do that we should help you , because of you, the conflict almost started .
And I didn 't understand , since Louise saw the future , why she , knowing what would happen to the child and her marriage , decided to do it anyway .
I would like to clarify these issues . And so, if everything stood on the shelves, a normal movie.

I feel the maximum disgust for the main character. How self-centered and narcissistic a person must be to give birth to a child in such a situation. She doesn't even like this guy, in a healthy loving relationship, she would have told at the moment of planning a child that she would be sick. She does not like this child either, because the girl did not live and died in one moment, she clearly died in agony, having undergone all the chemotherapy there and so on. That is, she is like this: hmm, my husband and daughter will suffer, but I will get ten to fifteen years of happiness. Acceptable

@Foxander: exactly the same people happen in reality, alas. Well, it happens. Therefore, it is simply better to take a cat for yourself than to give birth to children and then torment them the same way, if you really think so.

Stanislav Lem suggested that there is a mind outside the Earth, located on an entire planet and existing in the form of an ocean.
All intermediate forms of beings from other worlds should not be too stunned after that. Even if they are ten-meter cthulhuid octopuses in the shell of Tolkien's ents.
The film prepares us for a meeting with unknown civilizations. Do you have any doubts that there will be such meetings? Well.. No one knows the future. Do you have any doubts that there were such meetings? This way for you https://myshows.me/movie/80751 / (Oscar nomination).
We were truly born too late for geographical discoveries and too early for space discoveries. But no one prevents us from visualizing our future interlocutors. In the end, Columbus sailed to the Indians, and sailed to the Indians. The movie is about that. Other forms of life may have not only a different form, but also completely unexpected ways of thinking. But we will be ready for it.
Forward to the stars! This century will be the century of cosmic discoveries.

The film left mixed feelings. I definitely liked it, but at the same time it caused confusion. It is a pity that one of the aliens was injured due to rash actions. 👽
I was especially impressed by the unusual presentation of their communication — it was great to plunge into this atmosphere. 🌌

I'm currently going through Death Stranding and watching this movie in the background at the same time — the atmosphere is similar. ☺️
A good cast, an interesting idea with the alien language and an application to the problem of human disunity, but that's it.
The main character saved the world despite the general paranoia thanks to a miracle ability and none of the characters went through internal growth.
Unless the heroine's decision to live even with the knowledge she has is significant, but of course it all looks very fantastic - however, I think it can be explained by the theory mentioned by Ian about thinking in different languages.

In general, the film is beautiful, but not deep and not instructive, but with the expectation of a wow effect.

One of my favorite movies. Every time I review it, I get goosebumps.
Villeneuve is a master of what to look for: visual, pitch, and sound. And if he does film a Date with Rama, then I'll be over the moon.

P.S. for the curious: the film is based on the story by Ted Chan, and Ted Chan is also wonderful in his own way.

Class. Now she can live things differently. Maybe my daughter won't get sick. But again these moments with.. a change. How everything will be saved and so on)
She reacted to the words as if she was hearing them for the first time in the future. And if so, how will things be with the time sweep now? Complicated, complicated...

I was thinking that for people, linearity is like a schematic picture for an outsider. It's as if for us there is only a line along which we walk in one direction, and for someone else the whole picture that this line forms is visible. But the question still remains, if you know everything in its entirety and just do what you spin, even all this, adjust, then this phrase that time is linear only for people is kind of incomprehensible. After all, such a look at the picture does not negate the linearity of perception either. It's just more knowledge and understanding. And everything. It's not like the Argument in the movie. That's where the non-linearity comes in, hehe. Maybe it would be better to call it "Not one-lineedness"... I don't really know..
It's not the first time I've reviewed it, but when reviewing it, I got caught up in the fact that aliens landed in Montana in the United States. a small coincidence (or maybe not) with the fact that in the Star trek universe, the first contact with aliens also occurred in Montana)

The first thing that happened to me when watching this movie. This is a deception of expectation. I thought there would be a firefight confrontation (fucking templates...) But it's even good that I was deceived. The movie is good. I would even say excellent. The second is the unusual presentation. He was able to confuse me (as well as many who commented here...) firstly, the strangeness of showing the aliens themselves, who do not want to destroy us, but ... suddenly... they ask for help through.... How much is there(?) three thousand years in the future. Secondly, the actual contact with them and what this contact leads to. You can't help but think about the fact that we are still like children in a nursery with our own thinking and perception of our complex and ambiguous world.

It's so hard to describe your thoughts and feelings about this movie....

Thirdly, this is the thinking of the heroine herself and her act at the end of the film, taking into account what she remembered in the future, no matter how absurd it may sound (although... Why is it absurd? We're still kids.🙃 We have everything ahead of us). She's very interesting as a character, in a good way. But here is her phrase "I know why my husband left me", said to her own future husband... although it is probably important to take into account the moment when this phrase was said. Then I feel bad for this husband because she didn't tell him about it when she started hugging him. At that moment, she remembered his face. And still, one might say, she deliberately decided to ruin the man's life.

PS And yes, I also caught the vibe of the now almost forgotten film from the last century by Stanislav Lem ("Solaris") because of some kind of slow plot.
And also those questions that this film voices, they are very relevant both in particular and in a global sense. These are really painful questions. The movie is very good. It's worth a look!)))
